I've played Tour 18 in Houston a couple of times and they have a replica of #17, dropped a number of balls in the water. It's hard when all you have to aim at is a green with very little else around it but water! BTW Have you ever played the Wild Horse Golf Club in Nebraska. There is a program on the "Fine Living Channel" on DirecTV called the Wandering Golfer. The host goes all over the world playing golf. Last week the show was on Wild Horse. It was really interesting, they went through the whole history of how the towns people made a commitment to redesign their local course into something great. They had the local farmers come with their tractors and plow the fairways to get them ready for seeding. Didn't see many tree's though! Terry
Doc, Wildhorse is out in the western part of the state, Sandhills area. One of Golf Digests top 20 American courses is the SandHills club in Mullens, NE. It's a Ben Crenshaw design. That whole area is perfect for Scottish Links style golf, sans the North Atlantic waters. Most of the courses they design in that area almost look like your in Scotland with the shaggy looking bunkers, no trees and gorse grass look.
Ironic I found this....I'm gettin' hooked up this summer with a trip to the sandhills.....can't wait to find that monster bunker....
How the hell did you find this, it's from 2006!! Hell the prarie wind has already worn that bunker down to a 5 foot depth!
