I am making this a "Sticky" that we can change to a normal message as soon as the date passes. Let's put any conversation about tickets, hotels, parking, etc in this topic. By the way, what was the date again? Sticky removed...
It's Halloween Weekend in San Antonio. Friday Night there is going to be a pep rally (ND) at the Alamo...not sure if that's a good choice I mean after all we know what happened to the brave lads at the Alamo! I'm going to be at the Staybridge Suites with the rest of my group. They have a couple of locations and since my brother made the reservation I'm not sure which one it is. I know it's not the one downtown in the Convention Center/Alamo Dome area though. I'm also not too sure about the tailgating. When I looked at the Alamo Dome site they said tailgating is not allowed in their lots, but then when I googled tailgating at the Alamo Dome I found an article saying they were allowing it for the A&M/Army game a couple of years ago. I tried to call them but didn't get an answer. The ND Club is going to sponsor a tailgate, but unless it's different from the one they sponsored at A&M back when we played them there it's more of a outdoor picnic as opposed to a lot where ND fans can park and tailgate like they do at the games in South Bend. I plan on playing golf Friday morning and hopefully set up something to meet the guys who are coming for dinner. Same thing on Sat and meet everybody a couple of hours before the game (6:30) to tailgate or whatever. Right now I have no feel for whether this is going to be a big sellout crowd or what. I'm sure a lot will have to do with how the Irish start the season. Good start to the season and maybe even an upset over USC and it should be a big crowd. If we suck we might have the place to ourselves. Terry
Kes and I are going the cheap route after my first few choices of lodging were already booked up by the traveling Domers. 8) We'll be at the Days Inn Riverwalk - coming into town Saturday, and leaving Sunday if current plans hold. I'd suggest just finding a spot on the Riverwalk to camp out all day (worst case there's a Hooters that will show games), and then walk to the Alamodome for the game. It's much easier than moving vehicles several times - and I intend to do some drinking so that's not a good idea for me anyway. BTW... Kesley is in charge of tickets so I have NO idea where we'll be sitting.
SA <t>We will be staying at the wonderful Riverwalk Days Inn also. We are coming in Friday and leaving Sunday. <br/> <br/> <br/> Tim</t>
Kesley got tickets for our group... no idea where they are. I'm sure we'll at least be able to see the back of the jumbotron...
Nobody should worry about tickets, ND is still selling tickets at face value on their website and there are plenty available online at the usual outlets...ie Stub Hub, Ticketmaster, ebay, etc.
Hitting that Gator juice a little hard there Bill??? I think you meant this for the Fantasy League topic.
Woops, sorry guys, but I don't need to post it on the other topic as I've already traded Allen to Sid.
Flight is purchased, tickets have arrived. Scott and I (and other company) will be seated in Section 127, Row 26, Seats 3-10. Looking forward to seeing some of the 'boxers!
Anybody needing Tickets should check this out, right now they are offering "select" tickets at 50% discount. ND/WSU Discount Tickets
We've got two extras in our area - still waiting to hear if Corey wants them. (Corey... you still out there??) If not, Tom and Cindy have dibs.
Cindy and Tom have accepted the tickets and have just made reservations at the Days Inn Riverwalk as well. ... easier than driving back and forth from Austin. We are staying there Friday and Saturday night leaving Sunday morning.
Update: 1. I think everybody is covered for tickets even Tom and Cindy. Corey I'm not sure what his plans are he might not know either. But I don't think getting him a ticket(s) is a problem at all. They are still avaiable online at face value. 2. The ND Club of San Antonio is hosting the Pep Rally in Alamo Plaza 7PM on Friday Night, with a post Pep Rally deal at Pat O'Briens at Alamo Plaza, you pay at the door. 3. Tailgater on Saturday in the Court Yard at Sunset Station Court Yard at Sunset Station You order tickets to this online at the link below. This might be the best deal for all of us, I went to the one for the A&M game in College Station and they had food/beer tables to gather around and you didn't have to be a ND fan to get in just have a ticket. ND fans very hospitable so Wazzu?A&M Fans and Tenn Vol fans will be OK. Unless somebody has a better idea this might be the best option on game day. Now inorder to buy the Tailgater tickets they make you jump through some hoops and register online so unless you want to do that I'll order them for everybody and collect from you later. If you want to do it yourself here's the starting point. Tailgate
Forgot to ask, when is everybody getting into town. Does the post pep rally party sound ok as a starting point for the weekend? Terry
We are not certain when we will arrive. I have tentative dates of October 27th thru 29th for a class to teach at Intel in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Until it locks, I can't make travel arrangements to know when my flight will arrive in Austin. I should know in the next two days if I am teaching this class and can finalize travel arrangements.
The Tailgater tickets are 28$ each. I don't know if that's unlimited food and cash bar or what though.
Terry, Kes and I are arriving Saturday about noon. I think he has some family coming as well so I'm not sure what he has in mind. All I need is a place that has food, drink, some TV's for game viewing and chairs so I can listen to you old geezers go on about the greatness of your teams... What are the times for this Tailgater thing, and can you walk to the Dome from there?
