8) Having Pat Haden as Kiffin's new boss is the best of all possible worlds for Irish fans. Besides getting Pat the hell out of South Bend on Saturday afternoons, it places Mr. Kiffin in a real "pit and the pendulum" situation. Where can he run away to after betraying everyone? He'll be tied to the rack as Patrick slowly dices him up and feeds him to the land sharks in South Central. The Lane Kiffins of Troy have great reason to fear Patrick Capper Haden. He's infamous among the local "win-at-all-costs" crowd for having made two statements which infuriate them. As a player he reportedly said, "I wish I would have gone to Notre Dame." The intellectual, poetry writing, future Rhodes Scholar was shocked to discover the low level common to USC athletes and he often complained that "Half the guys in the huddle can't even read or write!" His other notorious comment is that, "USC should be more like Stanford." He has repeated this position over and over again for the last 19 years as a member of the USC Board of Trustees with a predictable reaction from the local savages. There are three schools in the world that Trojan fans despise with a purple passion and they are in order: 1. UCLA 2. Stanford 3. Notre Dame Only Notre Dame is regarded with respect. The other two look down on USC with contempt and both are notorious for their lack of sportsmanship, which they lather on thick whenever they defeat the Trojans in any sport... Now Pat Haden holds the blade hanging over Kiffin's head as the vultures have already begun to roost on Heritage Hall. His first move as AD was to create a special assistant AD to deal directly with Kiffin and he hired his boyhood pal Johnny McKay Jr. to fill it. This could get ugly; UCLA and Stanford never run out of lather... ......Another Close Shave......JO'Co
JO'Co Welcome back, I enjoy your posts and especially this one! It tickles me pink to see USC in such a pickle. Don
Welcome back JO'Co. One might think that with a new AD in town Kiffin might have discussed the new hire first? So JO'Co, do you think Kiffin lasts at USC? Or maybe a better question is how long does he last?
Hi guys, it's good to be back. I can't imagine Kiffin surviving under these circumstances. It would take the greatest coaching performance in history just to break even and the next three years will find him losing scholarships with a bowl ban to boot. Consider his position: 1. John McKay Jr. (USC grad) will be looking over his shoulder every day and Kiffin must report directly to him to explain what he's doing. 2. Pat Haden (USC grad) is the boss he will never see and who would prefer to hire his own coach anyway. I can't imagine that Haden would have hired a stooge like Kiffin. 3. He's being sued by the Titans Jeff Fisher, another USC grad. 4. He's being sued by the Raiders Al Davis, a former USC coach. 5. He's worn out his welcome in the NFL. 6. He's worn out his welcome in college football. 7. He's losing credibility among local high schools and recruits, because of his documented lying. Except for that stuff, he's doing fine. This could be a long, slow, painful, coaching death; with no one to mourn his passing... ......El Buitre......JO'Co
That list of 7 things that Kiffen needs to overcome seems like a very small ant hill for a giant such as Lane doesn't it? Glad to hear he's doing fine other than those items though.  He just keeps winning friends where ever he goes though.
I have to wonder myself if Haden called up Fisher after reading how pissed Jeff was that Kiffin didn't give him a courtesy call, and asked him to sue Kiffin and USC. Truthfully I don't think the Titans have a snowballs chance in hell of getting anything out of USC, but maybe Haden just wants the ammo in his bag that Kiffin got USC sued at a time that they were dealing with the NCAA stuff. Maybe the first nail in Kiffins coffin.
