Let me say again that I believe he is deserving of the Heisman. Thing is though so are McCoy, Bradford and Harrell. So I'll be rooting for my guy but am not going to get upset if he doesn't win. Feel free to remind me that I said that if I slip, but I don't think I will. If any of you wonder why us Gators love this guy so much here's and article that I think makes it clear why we think he is special. Not just a special football player, but a special person. Tim Tebow
First of all, let me say that I would love it if Tim Tebow were a Volunteer. I agree that he is a great college player, a great person, and even a role model. He's everything you would want in a QB and face of your program both on and off the field. I admire him and his decisions off the field as well as his incredible ability on it. That said, I think this type of media pandering is what turns people off of him. They see the media's wonderboy who can do no wrong and fail to see the gritty, determined player on the field and the seemingly genuine good guy off it. Success breeds contempt and I think Tebow is often the victim of just that. I would have no problem with Tebow winning his second straight Heisman. In fact, I hope he does in a way. It's going to be a very difficult year for him to do so though. There are an abundance of good to great candidates vying for the same honor. I like to see good guys like Tebow succeed and I like even better that he represents Christianity well also. If he doesn't win that 2nd Heisman this year though maybe he can put it in the bag next year when he'd be the OVERWHELMING favorite going into the season.
I agree Tim Tebow is a great college football player and from everything I read he's also a great kid. While I feel that this year, Colt McCoy is as deserving as any of the QB's mentioned, I won't feel cheated if Bradford or Tebow or Harrell wins the thing. It's hard to seperate those 4 guys they all had just terrific years and they all were a lot of fun to watch play the game. Terry
I think that at this point even though Tebow has said he wants to come back next year that there is a good chance this will be his last year. There are possible rule changes coming in the NFL that might limit the bonus money for incoming players out of college. He might go to the NFL for that reason. Other than that Aquila I agree with your post except for the word pandering! Well I'm off for the day not to return until late tonight. Have a good day all.
I have time for one more post. Terry, I agree all four of them are deserving and they should have four at the ceremony this year. I know it's usually three, but I do remember one year where they only had two. In my mind I kind of moved Harrell to 4th on the list. That's because of the one sided loss to Oklahoma where he had really bad numbers until well into the 2nd half and piled up his numbers late. In any normal year that might not matter but with the other three having such great years I think it will matter. I don't remember much of any time where one conference had three QB's as good as the Big 12 has this year. Well this time I am gone.
All of these guys are first rate... except one. Harrell is a prick. He has taunted players and fans on more than one occaision (not just against the Aggies) and for that I hope he doesn't win squat. The rest are great, and would all be a deserving winner.
I think Tebow will be back. Why wouldn't he come back? He has virtually no chance of being a first round pick, at least as a QB, according to most "draft experts." I think Tebow is in a similar situation to that of Tyler Hansbrough. He is a phenomenal college player who without question sits at or near the top of his game. However, their skill sets don't translate that easily into the pro game. They both love college and their universities. They both (Hansbrough last year and Tebow this year) could benefit from an extra year to hone their craft. Maybe Meyer will even get Tebow some more time in a more "conventional set." I doubt that though. I think there will be a considerable stigma concerning QBs who play the majority of the time out of the shotgun. Most seem to have a tough time making the transition, including VY and Alex Smith (who played in Meyer's system and has been a colossal flop in the pros). If anyone can do it, I'd say Tebow can but he would have to show a lot at the combine. Oh and maybe pandering was a bit too strong of a word.
For those of you that are wondering, the previous post was not the Gonz. The moderators had to prove to him that a simple 5 digit password he was given when he forgot his own was working. The Gonz was not banned in any way except by his own loss of memory.
Bobbah Bowden, Nick Saban and now Lou Holtz all say Tebow is a one of a kind competitor....never seen before in college football. I have personally experienced a Tebow rush to the north end zone at the Swamp to fire up the crowd in a big game and it is electrifying to see and like nothing I have seen in sports. Now the question is.....did enough voters hold on to their ballots for the Heisman to see what transpired yesterday or did a lot of people do like one of the Gameday crew said they did...already mailed it in before this weekend. I also think a regional split of votes in the SW between Bradford and McCoy could actually help Tebow. What do you guys think?
You may be correct about the regional split of votes. There certainly is precedent for that. As I've said previously, IMO there are 4 equally deserving candidates. I would have no argument against any one of them winning.
Tebow <t>O.K.,

Is the guy a great player?.....yes! But he might as well be Obama the way the media treats him! Come on....the stuff is so sticky sweet it's making me sick!

I thought for a while yesterday the was going to play defense when he ran out to the D huddle!. Wow..he really is Superman. I'm sure he could play Linebacker. Hell, he's already got the headset on and coaching the players up on the sideline, they don't need Urban, he could be the HC too!!! He's got it all...QB, LB, RB, HC and what a great cheerleader he would make too!

Let's just give him the heisman for this year and next year and while your at it, give Fl the NC for this year and next and let's be done with it!

Great player, great team but give me a break........

Congratulations Timmy boy....your the king of the world!!!!!

Sorry Florida fans...no disrespect to you, just had to get that off my chest.</t>
Sorry Timmy and no disrespect to you either but wow that was a bitter nonsensical post. Personally I could care less whether you like Tebow or not. We love him.
Actually, talking to a UF coach, I "heard" the fact he could be a backup at QB, H-back, TE, FB, LB, and possibly DE could help his NFL draft status. Beyond that, he could also serve as team Chaplain. 8)

You could turn this and say it's because of the very good Big 12 offenses or you can say the offenses are so good stat wise because of the very bad Big 12 defenses. I guess we find out on Jan. 8th.... " And consider this when you're casting your Heisman ballot. Eleven of the 12 defenses in the SEC are ranked No. 39 or better. Tebow played against eight of them. In non-conference competition, he also faced the No. 13 defense in Florida State and the No. 24 defense in Miami. The highest-ranked defense in the Big 12 is Texas at No. 50. Seven defenses in that league are ranked No. 85 or worse."
