I love this....and for you jokers, no this is not the funeral service for death of the football program! We'll be back.....sooner than many would like I'm sure..... http://www.dispatch.com/live/conten...rs-deceaseds-passion-family-says.html?sid=101 God Bless the Buckeye Nation..... We are what we are and accept, no, embrace the insanity of it all..... Both of my parents had Carmen Ohio - the alma mater - played at their funeral services and had their ashes spread in the Buckeye Grove just outside the Stadium. The crowd was led in an O-H, I-O cheer at my younger sisters recent funeral......crazy? Yep.....but it's in the DNA throughout the Buckeye Nation. Literally..... And for my own service???? You betcha.....O-H!
That's pretty funny. Fans are passionate that's for sure. I'm sure that more than 1 wedding was planned around a big football game, so as not to interfere with watching it. One of our current freshmen on his visit to the ND campus spread his grandpa's ashes around the grounds and committed to the Irish. He later changed his mind and committed to FSU, many ND fans wanted him to come back and pick up grandpa's ashes! He later changed his mind again, no doubt to grandpa's devine intervention!! Grandpa was a big Irish fan. True story. While I know that there are laws and regulations regarding burials, I thought you could drop ashes anywhere. But it's not true. When a family member in Fla desired to be buried at sea, the boat captain that we chartered to take us out said we had to go out 3 miles and then dump the ashes and that he had to record the lat/longitude of the burial. It was a rough day and I'd have just as soon put them out just off shore! I know of another instance where a person wanted to have her ashes sprinkled in her favorite park, I was told that they (the family) found out this was illegal, so they went at night and did the deed. As for you, I figured you be sprinkled in a sand trap on your favorite course, you know familar ground!
Having been present at Ohio Stadium back in 1986 when the Rose Bowl was on the line between Michigan and Ohio State I understand fully the passion of of the Buckeye nation. I think it is to be commended rather than disliked because it is what makes college football sooooo much fun. RE: the death of the program.... The one thing I remember about NCAA penalized UF in the mid-80s was that as long as they were suiting up on a Saturday and they could be ranked in the AP poll it made the fall worth looking forward to. That same scenario I suspect will also sustain the Buckeye fans no matter the penalties to come.
   There is an upside to that you know.....with as much time as I spend on the beach, my sand game is actually getting pretty good! 3 sandies just the other day!

 Silent but for that moment, but he's going up to join a damn raucous cheering section I assure you..... Back in the day during my playing days, no matter the size of the crowd, I could always hear one voice above all others.....my Mom. She loved baseball and had the highest pitch, most shrill and distinctive voice I ever heard....."Make him throw strikes" she would screech and man did I ever hear about it if I swung at a bad pitch.....great memories. Always a treat when you show up BDR....funny stuff.
Completely true for me, also, BT. She was quiet, but when I would come up to bat, she always would say, C'mon Sid! I always heard her. A wonderful memory.
My wife has considered burying my ashes in a sandtrap as well...that way she knows I will never get out.
