....anybody jacked for this one yet? UF should be on a 22 game winning streak coming in....ranked #1 all season vs. Bama who should be equally unbeaten and #2 most of the season. Both defenses are extraordinary and hard hitting. It should be an earthquaking....slobber knocker of a game. No room for the squeamish in this one.
Most of the Gators won't like this but I have no interest in this game whatsoever. It has nothing to do with the Gators. It has everything to do with ESPN putting everything Gator in front of our face all year. I tune into the Tennessee Memphis game to hear ESPN talking continuously about the Gators. Same with the South Carolina and Ole Miss games. I'm tired of hearing and seeing anything to do with the Gators. I'm certain that there will be plenty of people watching but I won't be part of the viewing public. I feel sorry for the Gator and Bama fans that I feel this way. It has nothing to do with anything that was or was not done by any of them. It is simply the man crush that ESPN and the announcers have shown for Tebow and the Gators.
If Tenn had a senior Heisman winning Qb like TT, 2 of 3 NCs and a 20 game winning streak I doubt we would hear much about the Gators.
Dave, I did not blame the Gators for this feeling I have. I love the mountains of Tennessee. However, if every commercial on TV was one for one of Vol Jeff's places in Pigeon Forge, I would get sick of that too. Every time I turn on a game these days I expect to see the announcers lining up to have Tim Tebow's love child. That is a vision that repulses me. ...not that there's anything wrong with that. 8)
Hey Tom, I know how you feel. The difference is though that I would most likely tune the game in to root for the other team. I hate a Sat afternoon during football season without watching a college football game.
You know what is going to be interesting is how the Gators are going to adapt next year to not having Tim Tebow. Brantley doesn't physically look like he can run the dive play anywhere near as effectively or as frequently as Tebow. He also doesn't look like he's got the speed to run a read option like Vince Young. Also how has QB recruiting been under Meyer, other than Brantley have you guys recruited any 5* QB's? I think Brantley was a 5*, but I'm not 100% sure.
When Debose comes back healthy next year Brantley will have a good target at WR and also Demps and Rainey at RB will provide some balance. I think UF will score points....just in different ways. The defense stands to lose a couple of Jrs plus Spikes so it may be a notch below. Next year looks like a Cap One year to me mostly because the defense just can't be as good.
Gators are minus 5.5 points....a spread that might go down by a 1/2 by Sat. Should be one helluva game.
My prediction for this game is that it is about like last year's game except for a touchdown or so less by each team.....24-17 Gators Tebow leads Florida on a 14 play game winning drive in the last 8 minutes after Bama rallys to tie the score early in the 4th....coming back from a 17-3 UF halftime lead and putting all of us Gators on the edge of our seats. Tebow locks up the Heisman by rushing for first downs three times in the drive and hitting Hernandez with the game winner on a jump pass with 45 seconds left....... 8)
You forgot that Tebow will be asked to address the United Nations, will be named a Czar by Barack Obama, will be featured on the Wheaties box and will be asked to confer with Pope Benedict on world problems.
Best sign at the Swamp last Sat. am during ESPN Gameday telecast: "Tim Tebow can "outdrive" Tiger Woods"
I'm shocked Corey, absolutely shocked that you would go for Bama.  And who knows you might be right this time. However since the SEC Championship Game has come into being the Gators have done pretty well in the Championship games. I would also have to admit that the only two we have lost have been to Alabama. We've played 6 times and they've won twice. I see this as a tough, pretty evenly matched game.
Some interesting tidbits about Bama and Saban has an interesting story about Urban Meyer. Tide Notebook
It's nice that he used Notre Dame as an example of a "big" job. That off-the-cuff reference tells me that he respects ND. Cool.
