The popularity of 7 on 7 football in the summer has been good overall for the developement of QB's and WR's and I guess maybe even DB's. Don't see how it helps OL's and DL's, maybe LB's get practice in pass coverage. But until now as far as I was aware it was a state by state thing, with high schools forming teams and playing in tournaments that at least in Texas lead to a State Championship. The one for Texas was last week in College Station. I know that teams do travel some, ND had a 7x7 tournament that attracted teams from Ohio. But they were all assoc with the high schools. Now there is a starting to be elite teams formed for national tournaments. This smacks of AAU basketball. And we all know what a cesspool that has become. I don't think there is any way of stopping this trend, sadly. In so many cases the people who run the AAU basketball elite teams act almost like street agents for there players with regards to recruting. I hate to see college football go down this alley, we'll have lots of players like the Brown kid who signed with Tenn and had his own "advisor" who was looking out for him, which is not common yet in college football but once this trend gets rolling we'll start seeing it a lot more. Elite 7x7
Does not sound very favorable to me either. Lets keep our fingers crossed, not that would do any good. Don
