One of the aspects I enjoy so much of college football is the cultural and interpersonal relationships that people, communities, the schools and the teams have with one another. The game means something unique to each person. It forms a portion of their identity and reminds them of better times of days gone by. Personally, I'd recommend reading this at ESPN's website so you can check the images and everything for good background. This is one of Maisel's better pieces, IMHO. This is a good one, about Bobby Bowden http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/feature/featureVideo?page=bowden/bama
Thanks Corey, my Dad played offensive guard at Howard (now Samford) with Bobby Bowden. Bowden went to Woodlawn HSand my Dad attended Trussville HS. I wonder what the football story at Alabama would have been like if he had been hired in 1986? Good story!
here you go <r>for those who don't know the song 'Coach Bobby' is humming.....and for you KP, Bryan and any other Tide fans lurking out there.<br/> <br/> SEC fans, please keep from throwing things at your monitor for the next 2 minutes.<br/> <br/> <URL url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hx9XM0CrWs"><s></s>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hx9XM0CrWs<e></e></URL></r>
true funny story <t>Testing the link I provided, I turned on the sound to my laptop and let the video play through to make sure it wasn't a broken link or bad video. I do that with most all external links I put up to make sure it isn't a waste of your time. Anyway.....<br/> <br/> After the video finished, the construction worker in the apartment next to me shouted ROOOOOLLLLLLLLL TIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDEEE ROLLLLLLLLLL!<br/> <br/> It's way too close to 5 o'clock on a Friday before a big game here.<br/> I thought that was funny, these people are nuts.</t>
