The Pac10 has dumped the Holiday Bowl where they play in San Diego, a destination that is easy for most PAC10 fans, they played the #2 B12 team. Now they are going to put their #2 team in San Antonio at the Alamo Bowl. A good bowl and I guess they money is right, but it's not nearly as accessable for their fans and right now they would play a lower ranked B12 team. I don't know what the B12 is going to do with the Alamo Bowl, re-up or what. But it doesn't seem to make much sense. I could see if they sent their #4 or #5 team like the B10 did during their contract, but not the #2 team. Pac10 to the Alamo Bowl
I've been telling you Terry.. The Pac10 is home to some of the nation's best football and worst Administrators.
Corey Haven't there been some matchups in that bowl that pissed off the PAC or am I thinking of another bowl?
Quickly off the top of my head, I think a few teams were sent there that they felt were BCS worthy... any grief they have over bowl matchups is their own contractual doing though, with the exception of the BCS..which in a way is their fault for joining as well. The ONLY thing that would make sense about this move to the Alamo being the #2 bowl (to me at least) would be if the Pac10 was serious about expanding to 12 teams... which would most likely be Utah and another club (Boise maybe?).. Having the bowl in TX creates recruiting exposure for the conference in a heavy recruiting market, but they already do about as well as they are going to in that region as a conference... unless they were looking to add some teams in the Rocky Mtn region and are looking to create more of an impression. All in all, like most P10 decisions.. I have no idea what they are thinking.
