but it appears Spain's Golden Age of football is coming to an end. During the 1st leg of the UEFA champion's league semifinals, Bayern Munich crushed Barcelona 4-0. Then today, before the suds could dry on the floor of the German beer halls, Borussia Dortmund slaughtered Real Madrid 4-1. It's also worth nothing that, arguibly, the 2 of the best on-field players for Real Madrid are Germans themselves (Mesut Ozil and Sami Khadera). That's probably the good news if you're tired of Spain and their arrogant, chest thumping, borderline-heterosexual brand of football. The bad news? The Germans are back and most all of their best players are under 25 years old with the rest being between 25 and 30. They're going to be good for a long time. So, barring a miracle in the 2nd leg.. It looks like Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich for all the marbles... In Wembley.. finally, taking over the English isle.
looks like some American media are catching on to one of the world's great fan bases. While BVB fans are anything but saints, it will be interesting to see if this kind of support ever catches on in the US. Also, I once had a professor tell me that the feverish pageantry displayed by the Third Reich was indicative of the 'cult of personality' rather than anything to do with the German people. All I could say to her was 'No.. just no.'
That's pretty cool! What was this gathering waiting to see? Oh yeah, tiddly winks! (Sorry Corey we usually agree on things, but watching futbol is up there with watching paint dry for me.)
