Doc, Oswalt vs Fagbrano tonite. GO ROY!!!! I actually think the WBC helped him. He's ready I tell ya!!
Astro's did finish strong in Spring Training going 11-4 over their final 15 games. Zambrano has been hard on the Astros in his career. I hope the Big Puma (Lance Berkman for you infidels) is ready to rock tonight and that Carlos "El Caballo" Lee is also going strong. We'll also need for Hunter Pence to shake the sophmore blues and play well and Michael Burke will have to show us in CF that he's more than just fast that he can actually hit. Terry
BTW: I'll be interested in what You, Wendy, Bobda, Sid predict for the number of wins it'll take to win the NLC this year. I'm saying 90 wins will do the job, if it gets real competitive then I'd go with 86.
I agree. The Brewers will not be close to what they were last year without Sabathia and Sheets. The Cards lack sufficient starting pitching. The Astros lack pitching, period. The Reds and Pirates simply don't have enough horses, although if the Pirates' starting pitching lives up to its potential, they could give the Cards and Stros a run for their money......for second place. Yes, I agree that the Cubs can take the NLC with "only" 90 wins.
What scares me about the above statement is that you called me "sir." That means I'm in trouble.
Wendy and Sid breakout in front of the pack!! Astros have always had trouble with Zambrano. I'm not suprised he was able to hold us in check. Cubs will get a big boost if Aaron Heilman can be an effective middle relief guy for them. Cards show they still have no bullpen...that's going to hurt unless they find one. I was thinking Sid was smokin' wacky tabaccky when he made his Pirates prediction....maybe not.
Nice performance by Carpenter. If he truly is back to his old form, that bodes well for the Redbirds.
