    Who knew Carson could sing?

    This is a rare clip!
Enjoy. You will never see their likes again.
This show was filmed in June, 1965 at the Kiel Opera House in St Louis .
Carson hosted the Tonight Show from the opera house that evening. The Rat Pack was playing Vegas, but visited.
This is supposed to be the ONLY time Carson sang in public. Quincy Jones was there, conducting the Count Basie band; he is visible in the background. This performance...will make your day!

Start it and go full screen!

And to think he broke into show business as a magician.

How could a guy from Corning, Iowa look so comfortable on stage in New York and Los Angeles?

Some people are just plain born with "it." My only direct reference is David Letterman, who grew up in Indy and started out as a weatherman on local TV in the early 70s. I clearly recall watching him do the weather and calling my wife into the room because he was so funny and entertaining. I haven't read Johnny Carson's bio, but I'm guessing that his path to fame is similar. By the way, I'm not comparing Letterman to Carson. Carson is a legend. Letterman isn't. Neither is Leno. There will never be another Johnny Carson. He's one of the greatest ever.
