and an increasing number of them are getting on the internet. Unfortunately, these stupid people also watch football and feel compelled to fuel sites like NDNation or some of the rivals sites out there.

USC decided to keep their interim coach and I just spent 30 minutes reading people bitching about it on the USC boards as well as Twitter. People are underwhelmed. The last time they were this underwhelmed, USC hired a guy named Pete Carroll.

Me? I'm a little concerned and I'll tell you why. He believes in a power running game and play action passes based off of the power/run first approach. I don't have to remind anyone that has been the formula for success of every great USC team. He also places and emphasis on a physical front 7. The guy is looking for an opportunity, he doesn't see this as a reward or entitlement. ****, in my opinion, the only way this could be worse is if they hired Richt.

NDN is a full blown lynch mob for Uncle Rico. I think I'm going to buy people a collector's set of ND football games during the Weis years. Is there room for improvement, absolutely. Are we that far from where we need to be? Absolutely not. I'm FAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR more concerned with our red zone offense (a loose staple of the Kelly era) than I am the defense.

Everyone with a vacancy seems to think they're getting Chip Kelly.

On a final Stanford note, I rewatched the game out of curiosity. Stanford was penalized once for 5 yards. I counted more than 2 dozen missed holding calls. So, there's that to be filed under spilled milk.

I hope we don't play Houston in a bowl game. That becomes an 'everything to lose, little to win' scenario.

I saw a bowl projection that had Memphis playing Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl. Memphis might drop 100 on them.

I see that they are looking for multiple teams with losing records to go to bowl games. The further away from the old system we get, the more people (should) see what the bowl system was really all about..even the BCS.

As always fan bases for elite programs always expect that the top coaches in the game are dying to come to their team. Texas fans truly thought Saban was coming, that he was almost a lock. I'm sure Georgia fans think that any number of top coaches are dying to get the job, although it does seem that Smart is their guy and maybe UGA fans think that's the "home run" hire.

Helton seems to be a good coach, he seems to have done a pretty good job and I'm not exactly sure who the "home run" hire guys were beyond Chip Kelly who since he just got out of Dodge (Oregon) just ahead of the NCAA I doubt if a program like USC who is just coming out of NCAA dog house wants a guy who seems to flirt with the rules.

I wonder if Dan Mullins will be moving on from Miss State, I wonder where Mark Richt will land he says he wants to still coach. It will certainly be an active coach search season.

Uncle Rico, fairly or not he's getting the heat for the ND defense being mediocre, for tending to give up the big play, for giving up garbage time points that take a solid victory and make it seem a close game. I read where somebody said that they were surprised he took the job as his defense needs MLB's and Safety's and we had Joe Schmidt and a bunch of safeties who are just guys in a uniform. Maybe the defense will be better next year, I'm not sure. Maybe Coney and Morgan will be ready to play MLB, maybe our safety play will improve with Tranquil back there...I just don't know. But there are no indications other than ND fans frustration with the results, that Kelly will fire him. I've been through this before with Greg Davis and Mack Brown. Texas fans made God Damn Greg Davis into an acronym ...GDGD to shorten their need to type out the whole thing. Things didn't get better when GDGD got fired.

    Fans...short for fanatic.

NDNation is loaded with idiotic dipsh*ts. Intelligent and reasonable guys like Terry are in the minority. My son occasionally reads comments by NDN's savvy posters until the outside noise becomes more than he cares to endure. I've talked to several ND alums and fans over the years who say the same thing. On balance, for me, NDN has no credibility. I see the majority of its posters as whiny little girls. Even in retirement, I have more of a life than most of those numbskulls.

My son and I were discussing our post mortem of the game. He had a simple way of expressing how Stanford attacked us. They knew they couldn't beat our front seven, so they went after our back four, and it worked. Hogan was a surgeon. Our front 7 is as good as anyone's, better than most. Our back four, not so much.

Those who know the game understand that we don't have the experience, depth, and talent in our back four that would provide us with a shutdown pass defense. To some extent, key injuries have been a factor, but it seems obvious to me that we just haven't recruited the kind of talent that we need to improve the back side of our defense. Hopefully that will imrove in the near future.

I am glad we do not have that kind of problem here at Ohio State!

I don't know if it's a case of lower IQ's these days or lack of respect for anyone or anything but this seems to be common place everywhere. I will say that maybe we are older than most of the fans responding to sports boards I don't know.

I could link you to my main Miami site where we currently have 8 Butch Davis topics going, one with 58 pages to date. Or pick a coach, Strong, Herman, Cristobal, etc and there is a discussion who may or may not be our coach and their worthiness or unworthiness...No one person is ever in agreement, they must win a championship within the first year of being hired and in our case numerous discussions of what should be on the next banner flying behind the airplane...

It becomes pretty funny at times but in the end mainly a sad event of how humanity cannot be satisfied.

Why not Mark Richt to Miami? Seems to make the most sense.

Would Dan Mullen or Larry Fedora perhaps leap to Georgia? Would they really be better than Richt? Smart seems to be the smart play for Georgia.

Lane Kiffin to South Carolina might be a good fit for him.... and the Gamecocks have gone for the bigger names out there recently.

Miles stays at LSU.... saner heads prevail.

Mizzou.... interesting opportunity for an up and comer.

Id love to have Richt as Ocoord/ QB coach for a few years, but I suspect he'll get another head coaching job pretty quick (assuming he wants it)...

And to Corey's point... I think its the anonymity of the net that brings out the uber-fools.
They fire off things they'd never say aloud and feel empowered by it.
In reality they are just confirming a severe case of rectal cranial inversion.

I'm thinking Lane Kiffin in South beach baby, Kardashians, Miami Vice, El Chapo as AD, hell we could possibly set back college football thirty years with the escapades pulled off. It would make the Miami win against Duke look like a Quaker meeting in mid revival....AJ would arm himself and personally set up armed guards at the Nebraska borders to prevent Floridians from entering....

    Bring us Kiffin....

Okay, why not, everybody has an opinion these days... 8)

Irish fans are frustrated because they realize how close this team was this year. Four points from 12-0. They can't control the injuries so they start looking for other scapecoats to run out of Dodge. The back end of the defense lacks any strong cover guys. When you combine that with Uncle Rico's gambling style of blitzing and big plays are always right around the corner. When I read comments about the pros drooling over the likes of Russell and Luke I realize how little I must actually know about football.
