Lot of great games yesterday. Of course none of them played by my teams, including the Texans today who got beat by the Cowgirls! Ugh.

    1. The best game I saw yesterday was the So.Car vs Auburn game. That was a great game, great atmosphere, big plays, etc. I thought So.Car had it in the bag, Spurrier surly is a better coach than Chizik right? Well unfortuneately for SOS he didn't have CamRamNewton. That dude is a hoss at QB going to cause a lot of problems for DCoord in the SEC. Just whenpec I thought SOS had pulled his Jedi Mind trick on Auburn in sitting Garcia for the freshman what's his name, the kid throws a couple of picks. He looks like he has promise but it maybe wasn't the best move by SOS since Garcia has more experience even though he'd fumbled a couple of times.

    2. OU escaped again with a less than stellar win over a team that you usually expect a Big Game Bob coached team to blow out. Instead he got a gift fumbled punt just when UC was ready to put the knife in him. Same thing almost happed last week against Air Force and he also barely escaped from the clutches of the tough Utah State Aggies. This is what gives me some hope vs the Gooners in Dallas next week. They are undefeated, but they really don't look like an undefeated team.

    3. Neb the other highly rated B12 team barely escaped the South Dakota Federal Credit Union Team. Apparently tellers are fast but don't tackle so well. Huskers no doubt hung over from the big win out west. :)

    4. Texas, is FireMackBrown.Com up and running? Texas fans are really really pissed at Greg Davis, want him fired!! Of course we all know that Greg Davis has pictures of Mack and DeLoss Dodds so he's not going anywhere. Much digust with how he's handling Garrett Gilbert the UT QB who many were saying would win the Heisman next year and be a #1 Draft Choice. Truth is Texas is in a transition year. No good running backs or should I say RB's who can stay healthy. WR's haven't been great either, Jordan Shipley is sorely missed. Could be a 3 loss season for the Horns and the Alamo Bowl. Which is where we ended up last time we had a new QB (some kid named Colt McCoy)

    5. Gators, 48 points!! Have no clue how you guys did it, whether it was Brantley, or was it the defense. Only thing I know is you are undefeated!! I'm jealous!

    6. Tide...a team that just finds a way to win. Fight you for every inch of the football field.

    7. 12 Pac great weekend for them. Lot of good teams out there. It'll be interesting to what happens to Stanford and Oregon. I haven't watched Oregon this year, but their scores have been impressive.

    8. Boise. I tried to watch them last night, but to tell you the truth I just couldn't bear watching that Blue carpet. I really had a hard time seeing the Boise players in their all Blue uniforms against that all Blue carpet. I wonder if the opposition has the same problem. Anyway once I switched to the So.Car/Auburn game I never went back. They only have one challenge left for the season, a game with Nevada who looks good, but I question how good since Charlie put a 35-0 whupping on them last year with a mediocre Irish squad.

    9. Big East Looks like a very down year, there are really no good teams in that conference. It's a shame they will get an automatic bid for their Conf Champion.

    10. ACC. I am so shocked at how badly Ga. Tech has gotten out of the gate. This is Paul Johnsons 3rd year and he has a Sr. QB who's been running his system for the whole 3 years. Yet they have been stoned by Kansas and now NC State. Really to me it looks like Iowa showed everybody what you have to do to stop the Ga.Tech offense, and now everybody is doing it. Also now that he's in his 3rd year, the ACC has has a lot of film on what he is doing. It might be curtains for him. I have to wonder if at Navy part of his success was that he did play a lot of fairly weak teams and also a lot of his opponents changed year to year so they didn't have tape on them. Only Army, Air Force and ND are annual opponents. We'll see but Tom O'Brien looks to have an excellent team at NC State (for an ACC team). There appears to be a lot of parity with NCState, FSU, Miami and maybe VaTech being the best teams.

    11. Mtn West. TCU had a fight from SMU on Friday Night and Air Force looks like they might have one of their better teams. BYU picked a bad time to go independent..they look terrible this year.

    12. Irish...check the ND/Stanford Topic! Brian Kelly finding out why is different when you are trying to build something at ND, than it is from doing the same thing at UC or CMU.

Nice write up Terry. I didn't get to watch as much football as usual. I did see Arkansas - Alabama, and at the Sports Bar last night saw Florida - Kentucky and Auburn - S. Carolina being telecast at basically the same time.

As far as the Gators, we finally opened up the playbook more and found a new star in Trey Burton. Who would have thought that a true freshman would set the record for td's in a game, 6. I look forward to watching this kid the next few years.

    S. Carolina and Auburn, basically I think that Auburn had more depth and of course Cam Newton. Newton was a Gator but would have been third string last year behind Tebow and Brantley, he left for greener pastures and ended up at Auburn. I saw enough of him as a freshman to know that if he kept his health he would be a good player for the spread offense. I am glad for him that he found a home but am glad we don't play him this year. We do play them next year however if I remember right.

Alabama caught a couple of breaks when Mallet threw 2 interceptions in the fourth quarter, the first one with Arkansas still leading 20-17 and the last one to end any chance for Arkansas to pull the game out trailing 24 -20. Really a big surprise.

Next week Florida and Bama, I understand Bama is a 7 point favorite. That sounds about right to me.

    re: Texas
I was reading the game time blogs from Longhorn fans during the game and they were ready to fire OC Greg Davis at halftime. They turned from a decent sporting crowd into an angry mob before my eyes. I hope nobody gives them any sharp objects...

    re: Oklahoma
I have felt that they're the most overrated team in the nation since week #1. They're overdue to be exposed...IMHO.

    re: SCar and Auburn
Two good, but not great teams...IMHO.

    re: 12Pac
The rubber is about to meet the road. This week is Stanford @ Oregon. This is also USC's last week to cruise. Every week they've won and fallen further down in the polls, but the party is over for them after this Saturday. They finish with: @Stanford; Cal; Oregon; Arizona State; @Arizona; @Oregon State; Notre Dame and @UCLA...

    re: Boise State
Its so hard to get used to respecting them. When I played junior college football, they were a junior college! They deserve a high ranking and a BCS game, but I just can't see them deserving a shot at the whole enchilada...

    re: Georgia Tech
Those clowns have cost me nearly 50 points in the bleeding Pick-em contest! What's wrong with them? Anybody know anything?

    re: Notre Dame
We Irish fans still haven't learned anything that we're willing to admit...

Bill, I was out of town too, in Northern MI.
Had lunch in a grill with 2 TVs. One had the MSU-No. Col. with MSU up 35-0 at the half. The other TV had Wisc. on its way to a 70-3 win over Austin Peay. Complete waste of time to watch those mismatches.

    Bill,
It looks like Florida finally woke up. Dammit! I don't know about the 7 points favorite. This one is a pickem. Ingram is back but our secondary (as Mallett showed) has a long way to go. :?

    Bill,

What position does Trey Burton play for the Gators? Did you guys recruit his brother very hard?

Gipper, I think my two games were better. :) There were a couple of others on also but I didn't pay attention. There was no sound so it was hard to pay attention to three games at a time. The S. Carolina and Auburn game was on the biggest screen and we were not far from it.

Terry, I don't think we recruited Burton's brother very hard but I think there is another brother that we are looking at.

As far as Burton's position, he's listed as a QB and would be our QB if Brantley would go down. However he is playing tailback in the Wildcat, has played at receiver and both him and Brantley have been in the game several times. One of the TD's was a pass from Brantley. Another time Burton took the snap and Brantley was at WR. I think he has also come in as a tight end.

Interesting, the starting TE is a converted QB, Reed. There were several times Sat where Brantley, Reed and Burton were all in the game at the same time.

JO'Co, hey you better watch out about those Boise State comments. We have a guy here named Corey that may take you to task about them. :)

I think the biggest thing with Ga Tech is that they don't have a defense. I'm waiting to see whether or not NC State is for real. They are 4 - 0.

I pretty much agree with all your comments.
