I saw it coming back last year in the LSU game but Saturday's game was identically reminiscent of the glory days of the Swamp under Spurrier and Meyer and any team in the country would have had a difficult time with it on Saturday. Mullen had some comments on it as well: "So, while the Gators are coming back, The Swamp is already there after Saturday’s performance. “That was exciting,” Mullen said. “I’ll tell you what was awesome, the fans. The Swamp was what it used to be. This is what The Swamp is. This is what we expect it to be. It’s that home-field advantage, the most exciting environment in college football, the loudest stadium in college football. “We need the Gator Nation to give that effort like the team gives all the time. It’s hard for any team to come in here (and win) if that’s how the crowd is going to be. “They did an unbelievable job today. You look at causing some penalties, creating the energy on our sideline, the excitement the whole time.”
Funny how winning ignites a fanbase! Last time the Gators were 6-0?? Tim Tebow won a Nat'l Title right?
Actually UF was 6-0 in 2012 and yes the crowds were pretty excited that year.... can probably ask Bill about that.... but Muschamp had a lot of doubters about his brand of ball and playcalling on offense and the fan energy wasn't quite up to what it is now with Mullen at the helm.
I still think, for some crazy reason, the tale of the tape on this game will come down to LSU's defense vs Florida's offense.
That rinky-dink offense that L$U is trying will have to prove it this week. If they reel off 500 yards and 40 points without turnovers from the Gators, I'll start to take the Swamp Kitten offense seriously.
"the tale of the tape on this game will come down to LSU's defense vs Florida's offense." .... agreed
The spread is not necessarily what the experts in Vegas believe to be true..... it's always what those experts think is the betting public's perception of the two teams. They are betting on the public leaning heavily on LSU to cover so they have to issue a big enough line that falls squarely in between that perception and gets some bettors going for Florida. If the line were say 6 points in favor of LSU the action could be 80-20 for the Tigers and Vegas would get killed if LSU won big. They want it 50-50 cause they can't lose because of the Vig..... the 10% they make regardless of who covers as long as there is equally divided action.
