Does it seem to you guys that this is an increasingly common situation in college football recruiting? With so many of the kids now committing early (before Sept of their Sr. year) they are making those commitments without the benefit of "offical" visits. Which as we all know are paid and are big party trips for these kids. I see more and more kids saying that they are committed to School A but they are going to take their offical visits to make sure. The Elam kid, who is a UF commit just recently announced he's going to take offical visits to other schools, ND just got a verbal from a kid previously committed to Stanford, had a visit to our camp from a Miami commit (Louis Nix). One of our commits who is a 5* DE (Chris Martin) said he might look around and it caused a lot of bruha on the ND boards, he eventually said that he was 100% ND and wouldn't take any visits. Don't know if that is because Charlie some how put his foot down or what. We have another kid who we are eager to get a commit from but who has said that he is going to make up his mind in the next few weeks who he it will be and that he was still going to take his 5 officals to make sure. I mean what do you do with a kid like that, if you tell him no way will you accept his verbal if he's going on visits do you risk him saying fine you're off my list if that's how you are going to be. I theorize that it's the whole missing out on the big party weekends combined with wanting to "secure" a spot knowing that he can change his mind later on if he wants. Makes me want an early signing period even more.
