List Of Companies That Have Announced Layoffs Or Closings Since Obama Won Second Term… The next four years are going to be a disaster. Via The Blaze: • Energizer - The St. Louis-based company said Thursday that it expects to shed about 1,500 employees. When finished, the restructuring should lead to $200 million in pretax yearly savings, Energizer said. It aims to have most of its restructuring steps finished by the end of September 2014. • Exide Technologies - Exide Technologies announced Thursday that it will be idling its lead-recycling operations in Laureldale and laying off 150 workers, effective no later than March 31. • Westinghouse - Westinghouse Anniston, the contractor responsible for shutting down Anniston’s chemical weapons incinerator, has reduced its workforce by another 50 employees. • Research in Motion Limited - Research in Motion Ltd., the maker of BlackBerry smartphones, laid off about 200 people at its U.S. headquarters in Irving on Wednesday, according to a source close to the company who did not want to be named. • Lightyear Network Solutions - More than one dozen employees at a Pikeville company lost their jobs this week. Officials with Lightyear Network Solutions said they are consolidating offices in Louisville and Pikeville to save money. • Providence Journal - The Providence Journal Co. laid off 23 full-time workers Wednesday as part of a cost-cutting effort, including 16 members of the Providence Newspaper Guild and 7 non-union employees. • Hawker Beechcraft - The company says 240 employees will lose their jobs with the closing of Hawker Beechcraft Services facilities in Little Rock, Ark.; Mesa, Ariz.; and San Antonio, Texas. • Boeing (30% of their management staff) - Boeing Co. said Wednesday it plans to employ 30% fewer executives at its Boeing Defense, Space & Security unit by the end of 2012 compared to 2010 levels. • CVPH Medical Center - CVPH Medical Center has handed pink slips to 17 employees. Election Over, Obama Heads Right Back To The Golf Course… Outing #105. Via WHD: With the election over and his golfing no longer a potential political liability, President Obama returned to the fairways today, playing for the 105th time of his presidency but only the 13th time this year. Obama today is at the Andrews Air Force Base course along with some of his regular crew of young aides who golf with him – Eugene Kang, Joe Paulson and White House trip director Marvin Nicholson.
Damn... and the sad part is no company was laying off anyone in the weeks prior to that no good son-of-a-gun getting re-elected!! Somebody needs to send this link to Fox News so they don't all jump off the bridge: http://www.dailyjobcuts.com/layoffs-oct.htm    You guys crack me up....
Of course they were....after 4 years of the single most inept economic policy team in our history, what other options do they have......denial cannot change the facts, only prolongs the time it takes for some to realize just how badly this team has missed the mark.
Let's see......anybody get laid off in 2008? Hmmmmm......oh yeah....... I did. The election proved that the GOP just couldn't escape the recessionary slime left by the Bush administration because wouldn't you know it.......most people do not have the selective memory they had hoped for. 8) And....that is an old pre-election debate now decided. This post is really about the Fox News/Rush Limbaugh paranoia that will in fact in my opinion cause real damge to our economic growth by the poison they continue to foment amongst their true believers. They should worry about a congressional GOP leadership that I think is still hellbent on bringing down Obama even if it means another recession. That kind of self-serving crap is something to actually worry about.
We are only 1 1/2 months from 2013 pal, 4 years after the largest increase in government expenditures in the history of mankind he sold to an unsuspecting public as economic stimulus with promises of greater employment and a big improvement in the deficit.....and we have seen neigter. This is his economy, his policies and his investment climate. The campaign is over, it's time to lead....what is his plan to put this economy on the growth trajectory necessary to spur job creation and employment growth? Simple question....
I believe that I agreed the pre-election is the just that and now we look to what happens going forward. However.... to claim that November lay-offs are tied directly in to Obama's re-election would not seem so absurd if you didn't consider the layoffs preceeding the election. Fox News mania will lead to an economic Jonestown for all of it's followers and for the rest of us too if the GOP House will not try to get done what they must. American voters proved nationally and certainly here in Florida that they have seen enough of GOP powerplays and rhetoric based policies that only serve to fire up Fox News and throw salvos at anything Obama tries to accomplish. Mark my words.... if they keep it up the mid-terms will be devastating to the GOP. It's time to leave Jonestown and come back to the real world.
The real world is that the Dow has declined over 1000 points since October....the real world is that the man has overseen the worst economic policy team in history and his lack of leadership and overt politicizing of meaningful policy debates has brought us to the brink of this "fiscal cliff". This "cliff" is of his making.... I repeat, the campaign is over, it's time to lead....what is his plan to put this economy on the growth trajectory necessary to spur job creation and employment growth? Simple question....
I don't think his plan at all resembles what we thought it would be. I think he is right on schedule with his plan.
OBAMA DONOR’S CORPORATION LAYS OFF EMPLOYEES DUE TO OBAMACARE Home - by Cardigan - November 14, 2012 - 21:00 America/New_York - 27 Comments Big Gov Stryker Corporation has announced that it will close its facility in Orchard Park, New York, eliminating 96 jobs next month. It will also counter the medical device tax in Obamacare by eliminating 5% of their global workforce, an estimated 1,170 positions. Jon Stryker is heir to the Stryker Corporation, one of the largest medical device and equipment manufacturers in the world. Stryker’s grandfather was the surgeon who invented the mobile hospital bed. The company now sells $8.3 billion worth of hospital beds, artificial joints, medical cameras, and medical software every year. Stryker, a member of the Forbes 400 list, was one of the top five donors to the Obama campaign. Having donated $2 million to the Priorities USA Action super PAC, Stryker also gave $66,000 in contributions to Obama and the Democrat Party. Prior to the 2012 election, Stryker contributed millions to help Democrat candidates in his home state of Michigan. He also gave nearly $250 million to groups supporting gay rights, transgenderism, and the conservation of apes. In January, his Arcus Foundation donated $23 million to Kalamazoo College for an endowment to fund a center for social justice leadership. Stryker’s corporation is part of an industry that has been a big loser at the hands of Obamacare. Having refused to get on board with the White House and the Senate Finance Committee when the law was being crafted in 2009, the medical device industry was punished with an excise tax of 2.3% of their revenues, regardless of whether they make a profit.
Obamacare and its additional tax burden on medical device makers will certainly go along way towards reducing healthcare costs...
Funny isn't it that blacks (free phones) young voters (forgiven student loan interest), single women (free contraceptives) and Hispanics (open boarders) are the ones without "selective" memories.
Yep, that's them. The ones who suffered at Valley Forge, wrote the Constitution, and died at Fredricksburg, Belleau Wood, and Anzio.
Early Americans saw our country as a land of opportunity where all men were created equal. I suspect they had a much broader cultural acceptance of things than what we see today from the hardcore right wing conservatives. I'll bet there is very little resemblance in cultural philosophies of today's Tea Party and the real patriots who threw the first tea party in Boston Harbor. In fact today's Tea Party would probably make those original guys gag.
They can't possibly gag....they are too busy spinning like a top in their graves watching this administration in action. In your lifetime and perhaps in our history, there has never been a President whose policy initiatives and vision for our society are so far removed from those of our Founding Fathers....with predictable results. Care to revisit the Dow Drop topic you started several hundred points ago?
After the resolution of the "cliff hanger" let's compare the January 20th DOW of 2013.......to the Jan. 20th DOW of 2009. Resolution or not....let's compare the above. Agreed??
God bless Ben Bernanke....now back to your topic.... In terms of what have you done for me lately....let's have a look at the monthly Treasury statements that track federal receipts and expenditures monthly - just like a checkbook. October 2011 receipts/revenues = $163.1 Billion October 2012 receipts/revenues = $184.3 Billion October 2011 expenditures = $261.5 Billion October 2012 expenditures = $304.3 Billion October 2011 monthly budget deficit = $98.5 Billion October 2012 monthly budget deficit = $120.0 Billion Keep in mind that is a MONTHLY deficit.......for every dollar we spent, we had to borrow 40% of it...each and every one and each successive dollar puts us deeper in the hole to the Chinese. Yessirree, we are making good progress on the deficit and revenue is clearly the problem.....congrats, but be careful what you wish for.....4 years and a trillion dollars of stimulus later....well done team. It's all public information, feel free to take a look yourself.....
