Anyone not watching the Liberty bowl is missing one of the closest fought games in a while. They have had several plays overturned for knees touching the ground. The announcers are now calling it the Knee Bowl.

The amazing thing about it was that the referee was just a few feet away on both calls. Just what was he looking at?

There was actually 4 knee calls within a 5 minute period. Two kickoffs that you are referring to where the referee was shown looking directly at the knee... the same flippin referee. He called neither of them. One was overturned and the other (the first one) the replay official never got a look at it because of some "prepackaged" media crap the announcers were doing.

The other two were on Kentucky defense running back two separate fumbles for touchdowns. The first one was ruled that the ECU player was down by his knee touching and thus no fumble. The second one was ruled that the ECU player was not down but the Kentucky defender was very close to having a knee down when he recovered the ball before he ran it back for the TD.

He WAS down. I was paying attention only in the 4th quarter, and during that period it was a very poorly refereed game both ways. The review process should not have been used as much as it was late in the game.....and I believe the review crew chickened out on the player down call on the second KY fumble recovery. I normally don't have a beef with refs, because the calls tend to even out, as the bad calls did here. Nevertheless, the Big 10 sent one of its poorer crews - field and review booth - to this game.
