You're dating yourself Jim. :wink: Most people today wouldn't know what a dum-dum round is. Dum-dums were what early expanding bullets were called. They were designed to inflict more damage on the person on the receiving end of the blast. Anti-gun people think that is the only reason for hollow points today. There are groups that want hollow points outlawed. What they do not realize is that an added benefit of hollow points is that the expanding bullet slows down dramatically upon impact so that a .45 ACP round has the knock down power to take down a criminal but not the penetration power to exit the criminal and hit the innocent child standing 25 yards behind the crook. It is highly recommended that hollow points be carried for licensed defensive firearm carry. Actually, ammunition advertised as defensive ammo is always hollow points.
