Ohio State will open their first practice, beginning tomorrow morning, August 4th. This will give us a slight jump, due to the 29 practice day rule, on most Division 1 Colleges. Our first game will be on August 30 against the US Naval Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. High expectations for the Buckeyes and Braxton Miller in his final year!
The Aggies start tomorrow as well. And as a tangible indicator for me... they are installing the new turf at Kyle Field!
I don't know what the fall camp schedules for either Texas or Notre Dame are, I do know that Brian Kelly will be having a press conference Friday , but when the guys actually start practicing I don't know. I've looked on the websites for both teams and there is very little information. I get the impression though that both will be underway on Aug 4th, but whether or not they are practicing on Sat or Sun I don't know. But doesn't really matter as no matter when you start you only get 29 practices total and there are a bunch of rules on how those go so by and large I don't see starting a little early is any advantage. Good Luck to All!!
Terry, I agree a one or two day advantage does not give us or anyone else a distinct advantage. I am just happy to know the footfall season is just a few weeks away!
Based on last year's results the Gators could have started on July 1st.... but would it matter?
Terry, since there is no topic specific to ND on the subject, I'm posting here the link to ND's full preseason camp schedule: http://bleacherreport.com/tb/ddCrr?...m=newsletter&utm_campaign=notre-dame-football
Terry, Tritexgrass is doing the "temp" field for this year, and the permanent field after the final construction for 2015. I'm not sure exactly what breed of grass they'll be playing on this year, but the 2015 season will be tifway 419.
You mean you are only going to have 30 days of growth/settling in that field before you guys play? That doesn't seem like enough time for the roots to take hold. I assumed that you were going with fake stuff.
I would bet they've got the grass already growing in trays at this point, with enough for replacement as needed...
We don't have a home game til Sept 6... so it's got a little extra time. I'm pretty sure it'll be well rooted in 5 weeks. And I bet we water the heck out of it til then!
