    my desktop...dell XP has the kiss of death...tried to reboot with XP disk...shall i toss the puter and buy another? l

    ... although, it is a big change for someone that has been using a Gates box for so long. You would have to be dedicated to learning a few new tricks.

    How old is it Joel? If it's 2 years or more then it's not worth spending the money for a new motherboard, but it also could be the power supply. So you might take it some place where they will give you an estimate for say 50$.

    But make sure you tell them under no circumstances are they to reformat your hard drive without your permission. Reason is that even though your computer won't boot, your hard drive and it's information can still be retrieved in many cases.

    huskerlad..im working off a wireless laptop...this is the one that sits on my lap day and night. The one that crapped out is a desktop...

    T..ill wait a while, then probably junk it. A new Dell is 300.00 now.
