Personally I'd have gone for something easy with the Divisional Set up....Great Lakes Division and Cornfield Divison! :)

"The new Big Ten logo was developed by Michael Bierut and Michael Gericke of the international design firm Pentagram.

“The new Big Ten logo was developed to symbolize the conference’s future, as well as its rich heritage, strong tradition of competition, academic leadership, and passionate alumni,” said Gericke. “Its contemporary collegiate lettering includes an embedded numeral ‘10’ in the word ‘BIG,’ which allows fans to see ‘BIG’ and ‘10’ in a single word. Memorable and distinctive, the new logo evolved from the previous logo’s use of negative space and is built on the conference’s iconic name, without reference to the number of member institutions.”

Quite a shock on the division names. Initial fan reaction not favorable.

I was shocked with the name chosen for the Columbus ice hockey name as well, but have come to accept the Bluejackets!

Maybe if I live long enough, I will accept the new division names as well.

Much ado about nothing. Cite one name on the awards that does not deserve to be there. IMO, it speaks volumes about the rich tradition of great players to have played in the Big 10.

The division names, not so much, but once the season starts, who cares?

    Jim Rome? Who cares?

Well Sid is right to a degree, as fans we eventually get used to the most insane names with regards to our sports teams and venues.

I liked the name Enron Field, then when that went south, I liked the name Astros Field, then it was Minute Maid Park...yuck how horrible. But after the years have gone by I still think it's a stupid name but I've gotten used to it.

By the way, I also am having a problem visualizing the "0" in the "G". Smart marketing. How many people just on this board have paid attention to the logo for that reason and now have it firmly embedded in their minds?
