2nd year in a row that I miss the opening kickoff because of OT.... Learn how to win it in REG will ya!!...
[secret message to all except AJ] Huskers are down 7! bTW that was some terrible clock management wasn't it, not to mention the Vols got away with a flagrant late hit. The real irony is that there aren't many coaches in the history of college football who managed the clock worst than Bob Davie, and he's calling out Butch Davis? Oh the Irony.
Not to mention (sorry Tom) that the Vols are getting away with all sorts of showboating that is not being called, that was called in the Kansas State/Syracuse game. Now to be fair I think this whole thing is out of control, but this game and the Vols is a classic example of how unfairly this is called in college football.
This is one of problems when one network has all the damn bowl games...AJ I knew you had to be blowing a gasket on this...
Tough loss for the Vols, they thought they had the win and now they lose in OT. I will say that their young QB really looks good, that TD pass in the first OT was a thing of beauty, as was the catch. Things look like they are heading up for Tom's Vols.
I agree with Terry the Vols are going to be a force next season....I felt bad for the young QB there at the end but I have to admit I was pulling for the ACC....
Geez it's too bad that they didn't go into 25 OTs. It might have been better to have missed that whole game. How can a team hang 62 pts. on a team in their own building during the season and then score all of 7 pts. against them in a bowl game?
I cannot stand subjectively judged penalties in college football such as the "showboating" penalty. Interesting from the comments posted I am not the only one who thought the Vols were given a break here and there on the penalties. I agree the Vols will be tough to beat next year.
Somehow we got away from the Neb/Wash game. I was shocked that the Huskers did not kill them again, I know that rematches are a bitch. But I saw the Wash/UCLA game, Wash sucks badly. Jake Locker??? I mean any GM who drafts that kid before the 6th round is absolutely nuts. Sure he's big, maybe got a strong arm, can run, but can't throw the ball in the ocean. Huskers, I think once Texas gave everybody the formula for handling Martinez the Huskers were done on offense. They have been very inconsistent since the Texas loss. Pellini is going to have to come up with something different for next year or B10 defenses will eat up the Huskers.
I don't know how much his injuries have limited him, but it appears as if his passing game is not much of a threat - perhaps even a liability - against any reasonable quality defense.....Husker, is he coming back?
Thanks a lot, AJ! I put 34 confidence points on your boys and they let me down. It'll be a cold day in you-know-where before I eat corn again. Not really. I love corn.
Well, just arrived home an hour or two ago. Have not watched the Tennessee/UNC game yet. However, I will say this: I have been listening to ESPN radio personalities talk about how Tennessee was screwed by the application of a 5 yard penalty instead of a 15 (flagrant violation due to 16 people on the field at the snap) yard penalty. It is my opinion that if Tennessee took care of business and made the extra point, or what a novel idea, stopped UNC from getting close enough, that would not have been an issue. I am a firm believer that one play or one call does not lose the game for you unless you have played a perfect game to that point. Tennessee is to blame for that game going to overtime.
If it was flagrant then the proper yard mark-off should have been called. No excuse for the refs to get that wrong.....
Tom, The game wasn't officiated very well. They can say UT was screwed but there was a horrific no call on a late hit. You know how these things work, they all tend to come out in the end. You are correct. You guys had your chances to win. If the freshman QB doesn't hit an uncovered LB in the flat, you're probably still playing at least.
