    I played Torrey Pines on Wed. and walked the course. I'm still sore but kind of proud and I did get a fine tan.
    We had a great time. I feel like I let some of the folks here down since I know many hoped that I could convince the wise son O'Eire to once again bless us with his postings. But a man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do.
    We'll see ya in the fall and Mary tells me that the same group is going to meet at Torrey next year again. I'll be back.....

    You didn't let us down, Mike. We'll move on. We've all had to deal with things like this in our lives. Like you said, he's gotta do what he's gotta do. So do we.

    :cry: How did joco let you all down I think it was 3 of you that called his research work BS ........ it was joco who was slammed not you guys now I am disappointed Jim does at alot of research into what he posted 3 of you called his work BS he doesnt just wing it he actually does a lot of homework on it .... Maybe Jim is holding this a little longer than I thought or maybe he thought that he deserved a little more from his "friends" Mike did try to get Jim to go back but he also didnt make Jim feel like he could take his time in coming back if he reads these posts I doubt he will ever return and then why should he. but Mike also let Jim know they would always be friends no matter what he decided to do Friends dont insult friends and then hold it against them if they decide to be upset .and Jim felt insulted and let down by people who he thought knew him . Oh and just 1 more thing that I have seen/ if you know Corey or Jim then you know Corey is neither influenced or controlled by his father never has been never will be they are as different as night and day they also rarely communicate with one another on a regular basis for their own reasons

I cant begin to tell you just how upset I am right now after reading how Jim let you all down .......

    Diane, I tried to get Jim back and my sincere message (e-mail) to him didn't even receive a response. I have done nothing to Jim. Did I deserve the cold shoulder?

    People here are disappointed in how someone can turn his back on his “friends” for so long over a misunderstanding that he wasn’t even willing to discuss.

    As a bystander in this idiotic Hatfields vs. Hatfields feud, I will say that I can’t blame the members here. Jim may have felt insulted, but Jim escalated the issue by turning his back on his friends and refusing to discuss the issue. That is a childish stance and it shocks me that Jim took that route.

    Jim is part of the core group here at The Skybox. If he chooses to go away, we can’t stop him. That is the disappointment felt among the membership. The board will go on. It will be Jim’s loss!

    I'm sorry you feel that way Diane. Everybody here expressed apologies if anything they said offended Jim, more than once.

    I'm sorry that he's taken it so personal, but truth is that every one of us here has had our time in the barrell, and most if not all have been knocked about more than Jim did in the instance that seems to have provoked him into leaving.

    I hope someday he comes back, everybody will welcome him and that has been made clear. We (to a man) are sorry that it got to the point for him that he left. I don't know what more any of us could say or do if even Mike personally going to Calif and having dinner with you guys didn't do it.

    I hope I see you guys at a game this fall, maybe that's what it will take to mend the breach.

    Terry

    Diane,

    With all due respect, I don't have any idea what you are talking about. I don't remember any momentous exchange that would have precipated Jim's leaving. And all I see now is people apologizing for things they are not even responsible for .

    Our feelings for your husband are well documented here. We have the greatest respect for his knowledge and contributions. We've asked him to come back and tried to communicate to no avail.

    I'm sorry for this but only in the most general sense as I don't think I said anything to upset him and, if I did, his over reaction is in explicable. I'm mainly sorry that you got caught up in this because you sound like a very nice lady.

    ho-ly sheet

    <r><QUOTE><s>
    </e></QUOTE>

    That is your worst effort yet.<br/>
    <br/>
    Part of the reason I left was the 'group think' mentality that is both predictable but also wrong here. Differing opinions aren't welcome and are often subjugated to ridicule. <br/>
    <br/>
    My mom just tried to point out that Mike agreed that JOCO and he could remain friends while JOCO continued to take his time coming back to this board. JOCO didn't let anyone down, he was called a liar. He got offended and decided to go his own way for a while. How the hell is that letting you all down?<br/>
    <br/>
    How about you decide to try this.. Thinking outside your little boxes for a while. The person full of **** just might be you. This group is resilient and has the ability to mend its wounds and move forward. However, you are in a dangerous pattern of self-justification that is causing limbs to fall off while preventing new ones from growing.<br/>
    <br/>
    Those of us not in the midwest or the east are constantly forced to digest, and at least consider rationally the thought that Illinois just might be 'the real thing' and that Ron Zook would never cheat to help his program.<br/>
    <br/>
    We are forced to consume, digest and process the 'facts' that there is no rivalry greater than Ohio State vs Michigan unless of course, its CBS spewing the story and then we're forced to choke down the awesomeness of Florida-Georgia.. Heck, even Texas doesn't really have to leave the state of Texas all that often because 1) They are talented and 2) Texas is a big state...all the while, we are to accept the fact we don't really play much football out west despite the fact that a profane amount of professional sports are made up of kids from the West coast including...gasp California.<br/>
    <br/>
    For years back in the days of the old *P, JOCO and I both held the opinion that... God help any of us if USC ever gets a John McKay level coach again because, well quite frankly, some of you boys don't have the tools they do..and they have them right in their own back yard. Some of you still pontificate but the fact remains that your own teams stand very little chance, if at all, on the field of play with them. Texas fans like to hang their hat on the 2005 season to show that they belong to be mentioned in that same breath while ignoring the facts that it took the greatest player in the history of your program, playing one of the greatest games that any football player has ever played AND some controversial calls for you to beat them in an NC game 41-38. If you can't see that for what it is, you can't look at this rationally.<br/>
    <br/>
    You only want to hang your hat on that miracle of a win for you while ignoring the reality of all other years that include bowl wins: 38-17, 28-14, 55-19, 32-18 and 49-17. During that same run, they've gone into some of the 'death pits' of the SEC, Big10 and Big12 and hung video game style beat downs of the best those conferences have to offer. We are forced to choke down the 'fact' that somehow a team that plays for the SEC championship is a 'new team' when they are playing for the conference title but the XBOX beatdown they suffered at the hands of the Trojans were somehow just a fluke and not indicative of the conference comparison overall.. Meanwhile an LSU beating of bottom dweller Arizona (sorry Rick) is somehow indicative of the relative strength of the two.<br/>
    <br/>
    And the worst part.. I hate USC with the searing heat of a thousand suns.. but even I can see it for what it is.. but even I cannot allow myself to take the ostrich approach to debating the world of college football. You cannot remove yourselves from the 'our boys uber alles' approach long enough to see that only the NCAA can help us derail what's going on in the city of Angels.<br/>
    <br/>
    JOCO is a great man. He's a tough guy with a heart that barely fits in his frame. He is in constant pursuit of simply doing the right thing regardless of the rationality of that action. For once, he finally decided that getting shat on was too much..by people he has known for too long...<br/>
    <br/>
    And he somehow let you down? Begorra!<br/>
    <br/>
    I went back to read the posts after both of our departure, and some of you were close.. Sid and maybe a few others.. The rest just circled the wagons and immediately insisted that it must be something with one of the two of us, and not themselves. Something must be lacking in our personal lives... really now?<br/>
    <br/>
    Surely a group of gentlemen, and women... here as educated as this group can see the folly in that line of thinking.<br/>
    <br/>
    He didn't fail you... Most all of you failed him...and continue to do so.</r>

    once again

    <t>there proves to be fewer degrees of separation between the Florida Gators and Kevin Bacon.<br/>
    <br/>
    also, you will excuse the west coast fans while they LOL @ teams being discounted for being beaten by Stanford. After all, losing to teams from the SEC, Big12 and Big10 are the only ones that can ever be excused.<br/>
    <br/>
    But speaking of that Stanford game, JOCO's original point on the subject still stands. USC played that game with their 3rd, 4th and even further down options across the board.<br/>
    <br/>
    Some of the 'mighty powers' lose one player and are rendered dead in the water with writers (and posters here) making excuses for them for decades. That team suffered literally dozens of injuries that took players totally out of the game and they are being held to a double standard due to their superiority. You can't have it both ways.<br/>
    <br/>
    None of this attempted thread jack withstanding, my original points on the subject stand.</t>

    and just in case

    <r>you are incapable of comprehending what this means:<br/>

    <QUOTE><s>
    </e></QUOTE>

    that means... this was my address to why JOCO left the board and the absolutely absurd notion that he somehow 'let down' people because he wouldn't stand for people calling him a liar...especially those that knew better.<br/>
    <br/>
    It has jack crap to do with your Florida Gators..</r>

    I see you chose to focus on the one comment I made about Florida....as you usually do...

    Keep in mind your reference to the John McKay led USC brought that response.....which is factual and is my only personal frame of UF-USC historical reference.

    On Jo'Co.....I never want anyone to take permanent leave here because I mostly appreciate differing opinions unless they devolve into personal attacks.

    I will however never forget the comment made about my torn quadriceps being a possible made up story. That was absolute needless crap.

    ugh

    <t>you just can't help yourself can you.<br/>
    <br/>
    really now. what the f*ck does anything you mentioned have to do with the subject of why JOCO left the board and the misguided, at best, notion that he somehow let people down here?<br/>
    <br/>
    The fact remains, this has nothing to do with your goddamned Gators. Go start a subject on SEC dominance or Tim Tebow hairstyles. Try, for once, to leave a subject on the subject and off your effing Gators... or other likewise irrelevant thread hijacks.</t>

    Fyi...my edit came before your posts made it on.

    Your last post I don't get.

    I think that comment one or both of you made about my leg was completely uncalled for and was not in any kind of response to anything personal I said about you two because I most always don't operate that way. Unfortunately some here do choose that mode of response on occasion.
