For anyone wondering, the 1000's of acres that are on fire in Bastrop, Hayes, and Travis counties, the fires are nowhere near our house. There were some fires reasonably close in Pflugerville but these have been contained. We do have friends that I am going to try to contact as soon as the 8 o'clock hour hits.

Wind has really been whipping in Texas the last few days...that doesn't help. Rain would. Glad you are OK Tom.

    The wind was insane yesterday.
That front rushing to meet the tropical storm has really stirred things up.

I was hoping you folks in Texas would get some of the rain instead of the wind but it looks like its not in the cards. Believe it or not there's a lot of us praying you get a break, geez Louise the weather has sucked in your State.

    Thanks Ralph!

I got a good look at how bad things are on a wider scale during our drive down to the game yesterday.
It looks like the dead of winter in most places (nothing green), and except for the Trinity or Brazos... there's not a drop of water anywhere.
Passed cotton fields that were full of dried up stalks that never got past 5 to 6 inches tall.
Lots of small burn areas around the roads and in fields.

I am SO beat down by the relentless heat. Thankfully the temp has dropped off today.

With all the heat the cattle prices are off the charts at the moment. It looks like even if the weather subsides Texas ranchers cannot afford to buy new cattle because they have tripled in price. I am hearing that Florida cattle prices are incredible because of the Texas disaster and an old feeder cow can bring $1,500 on the hoof...

Enjoy those steaks now because it may be tofu next week...

So you are saying we'll be finding a lot of things that "taste like chicken!"??

    UGH!!!
