The game is much more interesting now. Is the UCLA destruction of Houston an indication that they are back, and that a very good team will arrive in Austin to play Texas? How talented are those guys anyway? How would you rate their offense and defense? Do you expect to come to Austin and pull the upset? Can we toss out the game vs Stanford as an aberration? We know that Texas is loaded with talent based on HS rankings at least, they don't call Mack Mr. Feb for nothing! As I said before I think we have one of the best defenses in the country, offense is still a work in progress. If the UCLA defense is just a "good" defense then I'd expect we could score in the 25+ point area. If it's a really good defense then we may struggle to score more than 20pts and have to kick some field goals. Hard to imagine that UCLA has a better offense than Texas Tech and on the road our defense did very well and I'd expect that at home they will be extremely tough for UCLA. Early prediction; Texas 24 UCLA 10.
I don't think UCLA is even a decent team... Like I said in your other thread, the Tech offense is NOT the same without Leach... I think you'll probably punk Slick Rick pretty good.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle tweeted that NFL scouts he's talked to say the Texas Longhorns have the fastest secondary they've ever seen and extremely athletic.
I know they looked very fast and athletic about 10 months ago... j/k With the way JJ is looking, I'm not in a hurry for the next encounter.
Hey everybody has a bad game. OU gave up 350yds rushing last week to Air Force, bet they don't give up that many to anybody else on their schedule including the Huskers!
Texas #1 against the rush, giving up 44yds/game: UCLA operating out of the Pistol these days runs for 200yds/game. This will be the first good test of a the Longhorn run defense since the previous three opponents were Spread Offenses. Overall the Longhorn defense is #2 in the country....and defering to Scott.... they sure didn't look like it last Thanksgiving!!
Just found out that UCLA runs the Pistol now...interesting. That's a long way from the offense that Norm Chow ran while at USC.
 UCLA is picked to come in 8th in the 12Pac and that's just about where I had them, before they suffered major injuries to their best players. Texas should romp over them...
How similar is this UCLA team to the 0-2 UCLA that came to Austin and did the Route 66 thing on the ranked Longhorns? For the record that 66-3 game, according to this article was the stone that got rolling and brought Mack Brown to Austin. UCLA/Texas
If this injury depleted, running a gimmick offense UCLA team beats Texas, they should fire Mack Brown on the spot..
Besides USC, when was the last time tu beat a PAC-10 team? You guys really need to dumb down your schedule. Maybe you should play the Cougs again!
Of course I only caught a few plays here and there of the game, but I was shocked at out defense. Our offense has struggled all season, so while suprising it's not completely shocking that we did so poorly. But I thought our defense would stuff UCLA. I don't know what is wrong.
I watched it. I couldn't stomach much of the ND/Stanford game so I did a lot of flipping. A lot was made of UCLA's WRs being overwhelmed by Texas' DBs.. which was true, but your WRs were pretty much contained as well. What would or should be of concern to you is that UCLA just ran the ball right at Texas. There were no tricks, no secrets, no razzle dazzle... just right at Texas and they couldn't stop it.
