    Some stats for you:

    Scoring Offense:

    OU 4th 49.6 pgm
    Texas 6th 47 pgm

    Passing Offense

    OU 4th 360 yd/pgm
    Texas 18th 274 yd/pgm

    Rushing Offense

    OU 49th 179 yd/pgm
    Texas 27th 198 yd/pgm

    Scoring Defense

    OU 15th 13 pt/pgm
    Texas 4th 11 pt/pgm

    Rushing Defense

    OU 18th 97 yd/pgm
    Texas 4th 51 yd/pgm

    Passing Defense

    OU 15th 159 yd/pgm
    Texas 98th 244 yd/pgm

So it certainly looks like the OU passing game vs the Texas pass defense is the key match up here. Texas has 2 true freshmen starting at Safety, that's the key. I thought it would be the Texas running game vs the OU Run Defense with OU having the edge forcing Colt McCoy to be a one man show. But clearly our pass defense is going to have to step it up big time, that is if stats mean anything! :) For reference Texas A&M has the 7th rated pass defense in the country, and Scott is complaining about his defense! :)

.....looks to me like you got your hands full in this one TOK. I was considering sitting my OU QB for this one, but it looks like he just might have a field day!! 8)

What's the line on this thing?

This game has been a blowout several times during Macks career and it's also been a low scoring slugfest. I don't know the line on this game but I would imagine OU would be favored by less than a TD.

Here's a link to Mack's comments on the game.

    That's about right.

The key for Texas is to not let the Sooners get out of the gate fast, that is what happened in all the big blowouts during the Mack/Stoops era. If we can keep the game close then anything can happen (how's that for cliche'?)

Don't forget to take care of the football, win the turnover battle, control the line of scrimmage and to be sound in the kicking game..... 8)

    Terry,

Aren't a lot of your rushing yards gained by McCoy and not the RB's? I wouldn't count on that working against OU.

Oh... and the Aggies are 7th in pass defense because of the great success teams are having running it down our throats!

Army threw for a whopping 4 yards. Mostly because they were running for 7 yards a pop!

Scott you are right in that we have not found Cedric Benson, Ricky Williams or Jamal Charles on the current roster. Colt is doing his best imitation of Vince Young, and looks bigger and faster to me than he has the last 2 years. But we need a TB who can get that 100yds game and take the load off of Colt or he might not finish the season, given that he's been nicked up in his first 2 years.

Even Pat White at WVA has never had an injury free season due to his running so much. If you remember he was on the bench early in that big upset by Pitt at the end of the year last year. That's going to happen to Colt if they don't get it figured out, and OU isn't the team to try and work it out against.

    TOK,

I hope you folks smoke the Sooners. Sonnersfans.com is one of my favorite web sites because of their Farks but Stoops strikes me as jerk. I know you will hate the comparison, but Brown reminds me a bit of Lloyd Carr in terms of avoiding bombastic statements about the opposition ( with the exception of Lloyd's comments about the Buckeye's bomb-squad pooches and a gentlemen's agreements made by a different rival ) and reserved, off-the-field demeanor so I am pulling for the Longhorns.

T vs. TA&M is a different story since Scott was kind enough to warn me that you were trying to screw me over when we were negotiating our Rose Bowl bet after you proposed some bogus brand of canned chilii as your stake in the wager while I was offering world-class Michigan preserves as my stake. That experience caused me to develop a deep appreciation of Aggie honor versus the underhanded practices of some of the Lonnghorn oil tycoons....

Here's a question. Why has Brent Venables the OU "co-defensive" coordinator since Stoops started in Norman, never been interviewed for a head coaching position? Sooner defenses have been excellent and Mike Stoops and Pellini have both moved on to head coaching jobs. Brent has never, to my knowledge, gotten or sought an interview?

I'm starting to feel a low scoring defensive battle so I've pulled Colt McCoy and Shipley from my fantasy team.

I think I'll go with an all Tenn Vol lineup since I'm playing Tom!! :)
