TOK, best of luck to your Longhorns. I hope the young QB has healed sufficiently from his shoulder to play as he is capable. I don't expect the Hawkeyes to be able to hang with the superior speed and athleticism that Texas will throw at them but perhaps the Hawkeye QB can play enough of an inspired game in his home state to make it a ballgame....I'm looking forward to it.
It should be a better game than anticipated. I would give Iowa a good chance at winning. Texas had a tough time stopping K-State and I think Iowa is at least equal in offensive talent.
Iowa on a roll until that interception with five minutes to go in the first half. Texas scores later and it is a ball game once again.
Texas came out like they were expecting Iowa to just mail it in, took them awhile to get some steam up. Iowa though made critical errors that cost them the game, the TE not lining up correctly on the TD play was a horrible mistake and then when they stopped Texas late in the 4th qtr and got a bad punt to boot, they blew their opportunity. Ferentz got just a little too cute with that end around on first down....it was not quite as bad though as the option pitch call Navy made when they had the BC game all sewed up. I was pleased with the way Colt McCoy played, the running game stunk though and Mack has to find a way to fix that next year. They have talented backs, and a lot of highly rated beef on the OL, we should be able to run the ball better. Defense continued to show that pass defense is not a part of their game plan though. Wait till next year...TCU replaces Ohio State and we have 2 certified wins with Central Fla and Arkansas State, plus a decent Rice team that we should beat handily!! We get KState, Neb, and Texas Tech in Austin so that's good. I see another 10 win season or better. Terry
Terry, I was glad to see Colt McCoy have a good game. He seems to have no fear and I just hope he can remain injury free during his career. Congratulations on the win.
That was a good ball game. Ferentz stayed upset with the refs over that ineligible reciever downfield call for a long time, but it seemed to me that it was the correct call. Good win for Texas, tough loss for Iowa.
Congrats TOK....I thought Iowa acquitted themselves better than I had anticipated. The Longhorns hung in there and eventually superior talent prevailed. Colt McCoy is going to be an extraordinary QB before he is done.....you can give him all the Longhorn passing records now. I too thought Frerenz play call late after the botched punt was a complete brain fart.....I'm sure he wants that one back. That said, the Texas defense made the play and secured the victory. Good job by the Longhorns.
