They are going to lose the lawsuit The guy is weird, but he should consider this a blessing. He'll get out of that sh*t hole... But after watching this report, I guess it's no surprise to find that the James' Gang is lying again. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/l5Q_5nYwWLU&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/l5Q_5nYwWLU&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Leach is a goofball, but the Techtards have NO IDEA what they've done. He was the only thing that ever made their football team relevant. Without him they'll nose-dive back to the Big 12 cellar, and never be heard from again.
This has been so stupid. 1) it was stupid punishment but not harmful to the kid 2) Leach is the best coach they have ever had ...well maybe not Spike Dykes was pretty good. I still have my I like Spike button! I think this is sort of the last episode of last years drama over his going to Wash and Auburn (I think) to interview for jobs without having permission from the AD and the contract negotiations that followed which were very acrimonious. He's had several outbursts, one after the A&M game where he made the "fat little girl friends" comment and stuff like that. Anyway I think I hear Kevin Sumlin of Houston dialing the Tech AD from Ft. Worth. He's got the perfect offense for Tech and it's a big step up from CUSA/Houston to Tech for him. I wonder where Leach will end up, even though he knows how to coach and get a terrific offense going he's also unlikely to build you into a conference or national champion.
Wow, that is strange. Corey, what do you mean Craig James lying again? This could cost TT some money.
A lot of emails are coming out now in support of Leach. Adam James is in the end going to come off as a whiny loser, he will have to transfer as I doubt anybody on that squad will want to play with him now. I'm guessing he'll move to SMU now that June Jones seems to have things turned around. But if I were June Jones I'd think twice about taking the kid on my team.
ESPN is in full blown witch hunt mode regarding Leech. With every statement, they always offer some ******** qualifier (well assuming guilt.... waiting to hear all evidence etc) but then they go on a 15 min rant about what a bastard he is.... This is absolutely nuts. Bill, To answer your question, the next time Craig James tells the truth will be the first. He was a disreputable player, who was very much part of the scandal laden SMU program of the 80s. If you listen to his commentary, he often celebrates those who cut corners and 'do what they gotta' over those who try to take a higher moral ground. I heard the rant the WR coach went on yesterday about James (the player) about how he was in trouble for each of the past two weeks and only came down with a concussion to avoid punishment. The next believable word out of the mouth of anyone in the James family will be the first.
From a football standpoint I think Texas Tech has really made a big mistake getting rid of Leach. I know Dykes won a lot of games at Tech but Leach with his offense has put them in the national spotlight. PJ in Jersey
Terry, I read each one of those letters/emails. It certainly paints a different picture from the one we are hearing about on ESPN. I'm not surprised.
Bottom line is though in todays world you can't do what he did, parents get upset with most discipline handed out by schools/coaches/etc towards their kids. They didn't invent the term Heliocopter parents for nothing. I mean sticking him in a shed for 3 hours, what was he thinking? It was bound to come back and bite him, it didn't harm the kid but it just doesn't fly now days I was thinking of Bear Bryants famous training camp in Junction Texas when he was at Texas A&M. Can you imagine what todays media and parents would do if somebody tried to do that now? I often wonder how the Army/Navy/Marines can get away with all the stuff that goes on in boot camp without parents complaining about the brutalization of their baby boy/girl. Also I'm sure there are players on that team who think Leach got what he deserved.
Terry, Did you watch the video that I posted??? That 'shed' is bigger than the average home in Lubbock, TX. The 'electric closet' was the god damned media room that they hold press conferences in. If you haven't, I'd highly suggest you watch the video I posted.... You won't believe another word that James, or ESPN has to say.
Corey, I saw it. The problem is not the size of the room, it's a perception problem. It's called a shed, it conjures up evil to todays media and over protective parents.
The things coming out seem to me to be favoring Leach and making the school's administration look like they flinched and jumped on what they saw as an excuse to fire Leach before knowing all the facts.
I watched the Reese Davis interview of Leach, Davis looked mad, upset, like he wanted to reach through the screen and choke Leach and defend his buddy Craig James. Leach came off as calm, cool and collected. It won't help though, Craig has the ESPN/ABC media machine behind him. Leach is screwed. He might force Tech to pay him, he might even win a wrongful termination suit but all of that will just make him more unpalatable to AD's around the country. He'd have been better off getting caught in a motel outside Lubbock with hookers.
Terry, You are 100% correct. It's the problem I have with so much in today's sports world, especially college football. What happens to be real doesn't seem to matter. It's all about perception. Face it, we're ice dancing fans.
true Bill, but we as a society should be smarter. we are so quick to question things like God in our society, but we consume without questions the words of a proven liar and rule breaker like James (and the network that 'backs' him). If the networks were as cut throat as they are portrayed to be (which they aren't btw), if I were CBS or NBC I'd be in full blown assault mode on ESPN and ABCs credibility on this issue. They've clearly hitched their wagon the the James train and that's always going to take you to the seedy side of town.
