Not a big shock to me, he has been ruffling feathers of fans and donors alike with his money grubbing moves. He's been arrogant and truly has shown that he gives a **** about the fans, just wants to wring more money out of them. One fan reported that he was looking forward to the "New Improved" Wi-fi in the stadium only to find out that he was going to have to pay for it. While it's too early to say, but he did at least bring Shaka Smart to UT who I think can be very successful and I like Charlie Strong a lot and hope that he can be very successful, but the jury is still out on both guys. This is an excerpt from an article in Sunday's Houston Chronicle: http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/UT-sports-empire-thrives-thanks-to-global-6501313.php
The Michigan blogs have been covering this story very closely since the similarities between your AD and our former AD were uncanny. Both seemed to go out of their way to alienate alums, fans, students, and the ADs of other schools with their arrogance, dictatorial management style and price gouging. The good part is that our new AD has done a lot to repair the damage done by the old regime and hopefully the same will happen at Texas.
I hope not Don, Mack did a lot of great things for Texas Football, but in today's world where there is such big money around major programs like Texas Mack would be completely unqualified. There was a time a long time ago when the HC in football frequently was also the AD at least in name, and a number of them were successful. Frank Broyles at Ark for a long time, Barry Alvarez at Wisconsin, Dr. Tom at Neb, Darryl Royal was the Texas AD after he retired as coach as well. But not very common anymore.
