For Penn State to have a chance they must be able to run the ball on UT and get some production from their TE Quarless who has become more of a factor in the passing attack. QB Morelli has a gun of an arm but not much else and hasn't shown much improvement since game 1. For a 3rd year QB, his mental aspect of the game is a huge dissapointment, but you never know when the lighbulb will go on. He doesn't manage the offense well and often tries to muscle the ball into coverage. He's been frustrated all year. Defensively Penn State suffered a huge blow when starting DT Ed Johnson was suspended. He was a great penetrator and along with DT Alford formed an excellent tandem of DT's. The PSU DE's are mediocre and don't put enough pressure on the QB , so losing Johnson is a huge blow. Tennessee should win this game. Penn State might make it close, but has shown no ability to overcome adversity. The only danger for UT is if PSU's playmakers turn loose and jump out to an early big lead. You would be opening up Pandoras box and giving a team a boost in confidence that it sorely lacked all year.
Terry, I'll gladly run agility drills with JoePa as long as he will suit up and fight a wild fire with me. I don't think the ole man could handle a full wild fire pack on hilly terrain. Remember, 48 is 96 in fire fighter years. 80 would be... well, DEAD!
End of 1st quarter shows Tennessee to be in the lead 3-0 but PSU making less mental errors. PSU has a horse for a running back and we have been fortunate to stop him several times. Our receivers have not picked up on audibles and our DB, Heffney, signaled for fair catch on the 3 yard line. By the looks of Fulmers anger on the sidelines, heffney should be a step faster now after losing several pounds from his ass. Fulmer will not need lunch today.
... and Tennessee makes a huge mental error! Foster to Swain hand off is fumbled and gives PSU the ball at the Tennessee 24 yard line. We need a stiff defensive stand here!
Tennessee made a very impressive march dow the field after already knotting the score at 3-3. That drive ended in a TD. PSU up 3-10 with 3:30 left in the 1st half. Tennessee had better wake up.
JoePa not even wearing a headset in the box??? I wonder why? I'd think he'd want to be connected with what is going on with the coaches.
Tennessee shows a little spark and ties the game then holds off another PSU attempt. Halftime score knotted at 10.
Tennessee makes its second major turnover with an Ainge interception after a disappointing review on a 30 yard reception down to the orange zone. Tennessee Defense will have to be the squad to win this game if Tennessee pulls it out.
4th quarter starts with the score still tied at 10. Neither team can sustain a drive at this point. I wil say that the officiating has been excellent. Several have gone against us but were confirmed correct calls. Win or lose, the officials have been fair to both teams.
The refs even further confirm my opinion of fair play. Tennessee had a call go against us before that last post where a 30 yard catch was rulled incomplete because the ball was not controlled even though one foot was in bounds. PSU just had the same call go against them. These are disappointing calls but they are getting them right!
Tennessee is trying its best to give this game away. With the offense in the orange zone yet again, we fumble the ball and PSU runs it back for a TD. PSU up by 7 with 10 minutes to play.
