Tennessee usually massacres its next opponent after losing to Florida. The line is 21 points. Will Tennessee pull out a 1 point victory ala Air force? Will they suffer a 1 point loss ala Florida? Or, will they take their frustrations out on Marshall and score triple digits?
I heard a guy on ESPN radio talking about the many easy games on ND's schedule. As usual he mentioned the service academies. Seems to me that Scott got to see Army last weekend and you got to see AF the week before. Are they really that "easy."
It gets even worse Gip....Navy maybe a legitimately good team, not BCS game good, but still an opponent you can't take lightly. Paul Johnson has done a terrific job reviving the program. I read in Lemmings blog that Navy now has a better recruiting system than Air Force, in terms of getting the type of players that fit their system and the academy. I think I've read that part of Air Forces success is that a lot of their players go to Air Force Prep that is on the campus of the Academy and they run the same offense and use the same facilities as the team. That way when they enroll in the Academy they have already been running the offense/defense for a year. I guess Navy must have instituted something similar. Terry
This should be a cake walk for the Vols. They have worked on beafing up the lines and stopping the run. How much progress have the made and how much rath will be displayed toward Marshall?
Tennessee Tom, I would be very surpised if you have trouble with Marshall. They were very strong for awhile, but the program has lost some of its luster. Don
In this weeks Sporting News Paul Johnson and Greg Schiano are listed as the two hottest coaching properties out there. By teh way, Navy has beaten six BCS teams and won their last two bowl games according to the article.
I really hope that Paul Johnson stays at Navy and builds the type of program that Air Force has had for the last 30 years. Schiano needs to strike while the Iron is hot, it's one thing to drag, cajole, push, shove Rutgers to respectablity but truly another thing to keep them there. Virgina, NCState, Miami and I'm sure some others could be looking for a new coach and he could be a good candidate for all of them. Terry
Good one Tom. I'm sitting in the DFW terminal during a storm delay and I can't believe they don't have any CFB on> No ESPN!!
After a weather delay of one hour, It's football time in Tennessee! We need to get a lead and work heavily on our running game. Let's see if that can happen.
1 hr delay for bad weather? Must have been a lot of lightening in the area, I never heard of game starts being delayed for heavy rain.
Tennessee holds the ball for almost 5 minutes on the first drive to miss a 42 yard field goal. Ball over to the Herd for its first possession.
Terry, There are two squall lines with heavy lightening moving across the central and Eastern US. The first one was over Knoxville about 30 minutes before game time. The second one (more heavy of the two) is in Nashville and should hit Knoxville at the end of the game.
While meteorologist McCord was giving Terry the weather report, Marshall lost 22 yards on a bad snap. Two plays later, Tennessee scores first on a safety. Tennessee 2 Marshall 0 with 8:30 left in the 1st qtr.
3rd and one from the Marshall 46. Marshall takes the fake up the middle and Ainge completes a pass down the middle for a 46 yard Tennessee TD. Tennessee 9 Marshall 0 with 4:30 left in the 1st
1st qtr ends with no further scoring. Tennessee is in its third possession at its own 16 with 2nd down and 4 to start the 2nd qtr. Tennessee 9 Marshall 0
