Tough loss tonight for Tennessee. I don't think you can say Tenn. had a letdown. I think they just got outplayed. Lofton had a nice night but Shan Foster had a better one. I can only hope that Gator Bill is right and this will springboard the Vols into the NCAA championship game like the Gators did last season.
Missed the game last night. Having to be up at 4 a.m. every day this week is crap! Tivo is there and I'll have comments after being able to watch it. Winning the SEC outright is still very attainable. That should be priority one. Multiple goals and take them one at a time.
Tough loss fellas, but it is that time of year and Vandy has kicked butt at home before for more than one team. Should be a great tournament coming up for the SEC. Don
Vandy is tough, tough, tough to beat in that building. Due in part to its unique configuration, I think it represents one of the great home court advantages in the game. No shame in losing to a good Vandy team in that gym.
I think that was just a tough situation for the Vols, big Emotional win over Memphis, a touch of the flu bug hitting the team, and another big emotional game against a tough foe on the road. But t he great thing about college basketball is that you don't have to win them all in the regular season, just be ready when the tournament starts for a win streak!
I think one of the major problems plaguing this team right now is missing easy buckets. I would like to know how many very makeable shots Tenn. missed around the basket last night. Near the end of the game they started really hitting those same shots but it was a case of too little, too late. I'm certainly not making excuses because as I said before they got outplayed but I think the officiating was really, really tight. In fairness, it was tough both ways but I think the tight calls helped Vandy more than they did Tennessee. Tennessee likes a helter-skelter style and it's hard to play that way when you're getting called for fouls left and right. That being said, it's good they had a game like this so that they can work on it. You can bet this won't be the last game they see called like this. I certainly agree about the huge home court advantage Vandy enjoys in their building. Tennessee really suffers when they don't have their general nearby shouting out orders. However, in situations like that you have to have a leader on the floor and that didn't really show up for Tennessee last night. Jordan Howell did a decent job providing that senior leadership but they lose a little with him on the floor and Ramar Smith on the bench. Howell is a spot shooter and passer on offense and that's about it. Lately, those shots have been off the mark and it really hurts his offensive value. Ramar Smith can't hit the broadside of a barn from deep but he can penetrate and create shots for himself and others. You guys are right, it should be a great tournament. I'm anxious to see how UK plays in Knoxville on Sunday. I will be even more anxious to see how UK plays in the SEC tourney with an NCAA bid certainly on the line. I still think they'll make the tourney gutting out some tough wins late.
