All three of these teams have one SEC loss and can take a lead in the SEC East in the next few weeks. All three play each other between now and Feb 9th. First up: Tennessee vs. UGA. This game is being played in Tennessee this Saturday. Next up: Tennessee vs. Florida. Again, this game is in Tennessee but not until Feb 5th 4 days later: Florida vs. Georgia. This game is in Florida on Feb 9th. After these three days, will we have a team that has stepped up to take control, temporary as that may be, of the SEC East?
I know that it is highly unusual for a Tennessee fan to be crowing about Men's basketball but this is indeed, MEN's!
... also Terry, Tennessee women are 5-0 in the SEC, Georgia is 3-2 fresh off of a win at Florida to move ahead of the Lady Gators now at 2-2. That, my friend is no news. Tennessee men being at or close to the top IS news.
The surprise here is that Tennessee has the one loss. I was sure you would beat Kentucky and feel comfortable saying that the Vols are the best in the East. I have been pleasantly surprised surprised by my Gators in SEC play, our one loss was to Ole Miss on their court by 2 points. However I don't expect that in the long run we can win the SEC this year. I don't have much of a feel for Georgia at this point but do feel the Gators are going to have to work for every conference win we get this year. What I do know is that the Gators are a very exciting young team and we have a lot of optimism for the future. Tennessee is a legitimate contender to win it all in the NCAA this year.
Cindy, This game is on both channel 200 and 201 on XM starting at 6 pm central time on Saturday. We can listen on the way home. Also see where it is being televised and record it.
It sort of looks like Kentucky is starting to come together, too late probably to make a run at the reg season SEC but they might be a spoiler down the stretch for somebody and in the SEC tournamnent.
Tennessee over Georgia in a laugher! The Gators edged S. Carolina at the wire and have Vandy coming up tomorrow. I don't like our chances in that game very much, but our team has found a way to hang in so we'll see. Congratulations on the big win tonight, game isn't over, but it's over if you know what I mean. 59-38 10:52 to go.
And in the West <r>Alabama is not having a good year at all, but we killed Auburn last night. This win doesn't mean much, but after losing to them in football, another loss to Auburn in any sport just makes family gettogethers more unbearable. <E></E></r>
Not only did I not get to see the game, I didn't get to listen to it either. I just completed the Flight from HELL! Singapore Airlines got me to Los Angeles 45 minutes late giving me only 1 hour and 15 minutes to go through Imigrations, get my bags, go through customs, run to another terminal, re-check my bags, and get on my plane with American Airlines. Needless to say, I didn't make it on the last non-stop to Austin. They booked me through Dallas with only 15 minutes to make a connection in DFW for the last flight out to Austin. I decided that this was not a good gamble. Ring, Ring.... Ring, Ring... Hello Cindy. Would you mind terribly driving 4 hours to DFW to pick me up? Cindy heads to Dallas and about an hour later, I am getting into my seat on the plane. I'm settled in and the captain comes over the intercom: "Ladies and Gentlemen, we have had a mechancial problem and will not be flying this aircraft." ARGH!!!!! Off the plane we file. This plane was less than half full and I seriously doubt the "mechanical issue". As we are filing off the plane into the gate, 46A, there is an American Airlines employee telling us that there was a plane leaving in 30 minutes for Dallas and our bags were being transfered. It was "running distance" away. 15 steps from the counter, I go to the ground with knee pain. They get me in a wheel chair and I finally get on the plane just before they close the door. This plane was packed. Only one empty seat in the plane. We arrive at DFW and I wait for the plane to empty so that they could help me to the wheel chair. I limp out to the jetway to find that some a$$h0le had floped their lasy a$$ into my wheel chair and allowed themselves to be wheeled around. I had to wait for another one to be called. Cindy meets me at baggage claim and we leave. 4 hours later, we arrive home... 36 hours after I woke up to start this adventure. Off to church and then back home to crash until work on Monday morning.
Wow! I've raced through DFW trying to catch a flight with two good legs. I can't imagine going through what you had to endure. The good news: It's over and you're home. Welcome back.
If I schedule ample time for a connecting flight, my first flight always gets in early and I'm bored waiting around the airport. Let me schedule one where I need that first flight to at least be on time, and it will be late every time. I don't understand that. I have returned home to a full DVR. I'm watching the Tennessee vs Ohio State game right now in full anticipation of my snoring drowning out the crowd noise by halftime.
Tennessee going up against Alabama tonight. In fact the game has just started. Alabama is only 1 - 4 in the SEC but this is being played in Bama's back yard. Close game in the first two and a half minutes: Tennessee by 2
Tennessee has not played like a top ten team in the first half. We are cold on 3 pointers and too many possessions have ended with missed three pointers. Bama take its first lead in the game with about 2 minutes left in the first half. Tennessee could hold for the last shot. A foul puts Tennessee to the line and Tyler Smith makes both to tie with 8.3 seconds left. Now Bama has the last shot. A missed shot leaves the score tied at 33 at the end of the half.
An early morning means that it is bed time for the McCord house. We'll find out what happens in this game tomorrow morning. TiVo is a wonderful thing.
I see that we won the game but it was very close. Watching the second half, at least part of it during breakfast. Now Florida and Tennessee are tied at 5-1. We travel to Mississippi State and Florida travels to Arkansas before the two teams meet in Tennessee on 5-Feb. Mississippi State is undefeated in SEC play while Arkansas is 3-2. Mississippi State and Arkansas play each other today.
