Tom, please forgive me for stepping into your world. I just thought you might be tired of posting under a topic with Kiffin's name attached and might want some separation.

Here's an article that says Cutcliffe might be the leading candidate:

PS: I think Tenn is better off without Muschamp.

 

Fulmer has come out and said he'll help with the search, but that he's not a candidate.

Some obscure internet source (Sports Times Network) says that the job is Mike Leach's if he wants it....big move up for Leach. But I have to say given how things went down for him in Lubbutt, I'd be shocked if anybody would hire him this soon.

Cuttliffe? If true I would imagine Tom and Cindy will be happy. I believe they really liked Cutt.

 

I could stand Cut for about 5 years...I would rather keep Kippy in that position though.

 

If Cutt does leave Duke after only 1 year, I wonder if the Duke students will be upset, I wonder if the Duke students even know that they have a football team!

Not sure I understand your support for Kippy. He's never even been a Coordinator much less a head coach.

 

I want someone that has no history of jumping here and there AND wants to be at Tennessee for the rest of his coaching career. Kippy is just that. I believe that we can be successful, maybe not championship level, with him. We need to make certain that we do not slip further. Kippy may not take us to the next level, but if we can get 5 years of stability, we can be in a better position to COMMAND who we want. ... and I think the MAN we want will be available in about 5 years.

Is Cutt the Ron Zook I have been warning about?

The only reason to hire him and not Kippy is if the Tenn admin really and truly thinks Cutt is the real....long term solution.

Otherwise they should go with a no investment approach either in commitment or money with the understanding that they are free next year to land the kind of long term coach they think will do it.

I saw they were considering Derek Dooley of La Tech.....and as a Gator I soiled myself when I read that.....
