By the way, I was teaching a class starting at 7 p.m. Central. I had the volume on mute and the TV on right next to my computer screen. The class was delivered over the internet using WebEx. Was hard to concentrate during the runs that made Tennessee successful last night.
Speaking of Tenn and Bowtied Lawyers from Vanderbilt..... I see that the NCAA has handed down the report on the violations surrounding Kiffin and Bruce Pearl.
I guess they give Tenn time to respond/appeal and then hand down the final punishment. Which means that sometime in the next 5 years or so this case will be almost done.
I think that for the first time I know of since Slick Rick, Kiffin will not escape unscathed. Kiffin may not get off without penalty
Guys, I have had quite a while to look at this situation and evaluate it from several different aspects. Initially, I viewed this with my orange glasses on and thought it is us against the NCAA. That was not the proper way to view it. I should have been looking at what was right. Don DeVoe, a huge name in Tennessee Basketball made a speech in front of the Big Orange Tip Off Club in Knoxville. Most of what he said rang true to me. I know that Don has a chip on his shoulder like Johhny Majors does. However, his words have the ring of truth. My opinion on the Pearl situation is changing. Sadly, I am moving to the DeVoe camp on this issue. DeVoe speaks out on the Pearl/NCAA issue
A delayed congratulations on the win. In fact a big thanks, that puts the Gators in a good position. I was going to start a new topic on the NCAA. Not to cause any agony, but to make a statement and ask a question. My statement is that I hope Bruce Pearl does not get enough punishment to get him fired. His biggest problem is that he lied to the NCAA, that could cause him headaches. But I hope he survies as I have the impression that over all he is a good guy and coach. On the other hand I hope Kiffen gets his. I hope JO'Co is reading as my question is what do you think Hayden does with this?
Bill, Haden has already come out in support of Kiffin, sort of putting whatever he did at Tenn in the past and saying how hard Kiffin and Staff have worked to follow all the rules or something like that.
The actual question is: "How is Haden's opinion swayed if USC suffers due to penalties placed on Kiffin... if those penalties happen."
There is precedent for that Tom. When Slick Rick left Colorado he had committed some NCAA violations, they penalized him and the penalty's were enforced when he was at Washington.
