Things just keep getting worse for Teddy Dupay... Many regarded the hard foul in the '00 NCAA Championship Game to be a deliberate attempt to injure Mateen Cleaves. Next came the allegations that he was involved with gamblers who were betting on Florida basketball games, and while there were never any criminal charges, he was dismissed from the team and left the school. Now come the rape, aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping charges. His victim reportedly estimated to police that Dupay hit or kicked her 150 times and threatened to kill her family if she tried to run, leaving her with two fractured ribs and a swollen left eye, not to mention allegedly raped. Dupay hinted that the sex was consensual and stated that it got "a little rough" before asking, "How can you rape someone you love?". Teddy's in new territory here. No longer is he the local hoops legend that made a "bad decision". Now he's just a local telephone solicitor charged with multiple violent crimes. And in a conservative, heavily Mormon state to boot. Perhaps he's innocent, though that seems a longshot based on what's been reported. It doesn't look good for him.
I really don't remember him, but that is just awful. He must be a very disturbed individual to make a comment like "it got a little rough".
Billy Donovan concerned about Teddy Dupay Not a lot of new information here, but it's good to see that Donovan is keeping in contact with his erstwhile point guard. I imagine Teddy's feeling pretty alone these days.
