    Joel,

Are you referring to the IP address assigned to a single computer within a local area network or the IP address presented to web sites from your Internet Service Provider?

I am assuming you are referring to your LAN IP address. That is usually assigned by your router.

Another question... Why do you want to change it?

    Joel,

The IP addresses used for this last post was: 205.188.116.17

This is not the IP address assigned by your router. I would guess that router assigned address to be: 192.168.1.???. These are two different addresses. Changing the router assigned address will not change the IP address seen by the web page.

Thank you for your e-mail. I understand you want to know how to change
you IP address. I am glad to assist you.

The Cox High Speed Internet network is a DHCP IP network with a lease
time of approximately 24 hours. What this essentially means is, for 24
hours your computer has the same IP address attached to your computer
name. After that 24th hour, our system releases the IP information and
    reassigns it.

Most of the time it releases and renews the same IP address so the
computer can quite possibly have the same IP address and never know that
it has been released. The Cox High Speed Internet Network does not
guarantee that any or all customers will receive the same IP address
after the release and renewal process.

To change your IP address, you would need to leave your cable modem
unplugged for over 24 hours. This would cycle the IP addresses and give
your computer a different IP address.

I hope you have found the information above useful. If the difficulty
persists or if there are any further inquiries you would like to
address, do not hesitate to contact us back for further assistance.
