    10 minutes left in the game and he has run for 5 touchdowns and thrown for one and had another dropped.

    The NCAA TD rushing record for Qbs is 22 by the Air Force triple option guy a few years ago.

    Tebow also is the NCAA leader in passing efficiency.

    The question is that when he breaks the rushing recoed as good a thrower that he is why can't he and why shouldn't he win the Heisman?

    He should be in the race, but I think he's hurt by the Gators SEC record. He'll be the front runner for next year. Which really is probably better for him and the Gators anyway.

    BTW between him and Vince Young who would you rather have? VY was bigger and faster, didn't throw the ball as well as Tebow though.

    I think I'll go with Vince right now, but maybe not after next year.

    I have Vince Young on my Fantasy Football team and he's killing me!

    I would have to agree though at this point and give Young the advantage. That win over USC was an unbelievable game by him.

    But Tebow is still very young.

    Tebow doesn't play defense and Tebow didn't turn the ball over against Georgia.

    Tebow wasn't tackling on the 5 4th down conversions by LSU.

    You get my point....

    Final Tebow stats: 5 rushing TDs 2 passing TDs
    425 total yards
    2 TDs dropped

    Not disputing how good Tebow has been this year, but he wasn't in the conversation in the begining. It was the RB's McFadden, Slaton, and Rice along with Brian Brohm. It's just the way things work, it's his first year starting, he's a sophmore, voters are just naturally going to focus on the upperclassmen and look at the teams who are in the Nat'l Championship race.

    He'll have his day.

    I think McFadden dropped again today

    Dixon didn't play and he may or may not be ahead of Tebow.

    Tebow has running much higher in poll voting samples than you think.

    How 'bout that Tebow guy, "a glorified FB who can't pass".

    :wink:

    He probably won't win The Heisman, but it's hard to argue he doesn't deserve it.

    Right now, Dennis Dixon is the guy who deserves it...of course things could change.

    Well, I wouldn't say Dixon is not deserving, and I wouldn't say he's more deserving than Tebow when I see

    Tebow's higher ranked in passing efficiency
    Tebow's higher ranked in passing yards per game
    Tebow's higher ranked in rushing yards per game
    Tebow's higher ranked in total offense per game
    Tebow's higher ranked in scoring per game

    Absolutely correct Gaterz.

    I think it's time to throw out that "he's only a sophomore" bias and look at who is the best player this season in college football.

    It's uncanny just how good Tebow's stats would be if the Florida receivers would help him out more than they do.

    I have seen numerous drops as Tebow hits them in the numbers and if you examine the few ints that he has you will see that it was the receiver letting it bounce off his hands or pads probably 40% of the time that actually caused the int.

    In fact Fla would have beaten LSU if the UF receiver hadn't let that happen late in the game.

    Wow what a difference a year makes. Last year, Quinn lost any chance for the Heisman in the third game (after completing %50 of his passes and throwing for 3 TDs. Mr. 4-14-35 was handed it by ESPN before the end of Sept. This year they're not waging a relentless campaign for one individual and it is a wide open race.

    hahahahaha

    <t>Here is what I see with Tebow:<br/>
    <br/>
    <br/>
    A guy who is in the game, padding stats, looong after the game is decided.<br/>
    <br/>
    Now I think Tebow is a fantastic player. Maybe the best in the country.. Maybe.<br/>
    <br/>
    But don't insult me, or anyone else, by quoting stats and throwing out numbers when that guy is still out there padding numbers when games are over. Are you playing to win, or playing for the Heisman?<br/>
    <br/>
    <br/>
    Is that his call? No. Its his coach, but even the commentators last night brought into question why the hell Tebow was in the game carrying the ball on every play.<br/>
    <br/>
    BTW, you do realize that Dixon has lost his entire first string supporting cast of front line skill players and never missed a beat. In fact, one could argue that his offense got better when he lost his first string TB and WRs.<br/>
    <br/>
    Not that you guys ever pay attention to that side of the country.<br/>
    <br/>
    And for the record, who said he was a glorified fullback who can't throw? I know I didn't. I saw Tebow play in HS and the thing that impressed me the most was his arm, not his legs. I could see that kid was a physical freak back then...</t>

    Well, that may be how it seems but ...

    Tebow averages 42.5 plays - passes or rush attempts - per game while Dixon averages 38.8.

    Are Tebow's stats being "padded" .... with the impact of 3.7 plays per game?

    Heck, given O's success at rolling up the score on its opponents ... winning big ...... you would think Dixon would have far fewer plays per game than he does. Hmmmm ....... just who's getting his stats padded????? 8)

    Also, one must consider that Tebow is having to generate his stats in a gimicky offense that just won't work in the SEC!!

    Effective reference to the facts Gaterz.

    With that Florida defense or lack thereof no game is out of reach.
    In fact after the announcers were talking about it last night as Corey mentioned Scar scored a TD to make 44-31.
    I for one was glad Tebow came back out on the field.

    That's the way it is in every game the Gators play it seems.

    you

    <t>dont know a lot of football do you?<br/>
    <br/>
    Have you ever watched Oregon play this year? How many times? <br/>
    <br/>
    Oregon took their foot of the gas in many games. They could have dropped 70+ on Michigan but put it in neutral. I don't believe he played in the 4th quarter in the Michigan, Fresno State and Arizona State game.<br/>
    <br/>
    Totally different style of play, totally. Oregon hurries to the line and its like a track meet. If you dont know that, you haven't been paying attention. Anyway.<br/>
    <br/>
    I have yet to see an Oregon game this year in which the announcers questioned why Dixon was on the field with the game in hand. Not once. Can't say that's the case with Florida.<br/>
    <br/>
    Looking at the team stats... Oregon has played one fewer game.<br/>
    <br/>
    Pts per game: Oregon 42.8 to Florida 41.3<br/>
    Yards per game: Oregon 510.6 to Florida 450.2<br/>
    Rushing yards total: Oregon 2443 to Florida 1938 (remember, they've played one less game)<br/>
    1st Downs per game: Oregon 26.6 to Florida 23<br/>
    <br/>
    <br/>
    Both great players. Both doing great things. Only you need to be driven to put down or diminish what one guy is doing...<br/>
    <br/>
    And the bottom line is.. the guy you are doing that to has played one fewer game and leads what appears to be a better offense.</t>

    Can't find one line or statement where I have put down any individual player including Dixon.

    He is a great player.

    On the Michigan game I watched that game and I just checked the boxscore.

    Dixon threw the last TD pass in the 3rd quarter to make it 39-7 and I looked for the back-up Qb stats and saw he threw one pass and had no rushes. I suspect Dixon was in the game pretty damned late and in fact I think he was in on the drive in the 4th quarter when Oregon should have scored again but misfired for some reason I can't remember.

    Oh yeah....you want to compare Pac10 defenses with SEC defenses?

    I think the SEC would hold it's own pretty well.

    I posted about Tebow in "the sec" topic but will repeat what I said there.

    As a UT fan I've never seen a Gator I enjoy watching more.
