    AS a Gator I am of course very proud of him. Proud of him as a player and as a person. He represents everything I would like a Gator to represent.

    Congratulations Tim.

    Mcfadden's #'s are/were more impressive. Back to back years of gutty performances should have outweighed a Sophmores very respectable season. We'll see how he does next year.

    Congratulations to Tebow, who had a very impressive year and being the first sophomore to win the trophy.

    All of you Gator fans have reasons to be proud.

    Congratulations to Tebow. I think Tebow and McFadden were both deserving. It could have gone to either one and I would have been satisfied.

    A strong case could be made for every one of the four candidates. I would have been OK with any one of the four deserving kids. Tebow is a deserving winner. Congratulations.

    McFadden is a great running back no doubt and he will be fun to watch on the next level

    Tebow represents the University of Florida extremely well and certainly makes all of us Gators proud of him and proud to be a Gator.

    In a year when no championships were won by Fla this is a pretty good bonus.

    On Tebow's stats...I saw it mentioned that when he runs in the redzone it's easy to rack up TDs. Oh yeah....why is it that I cringed every time the Detroit Lions would get in the redzone and hand off to Barry Sanders for a loss? That guy was so superlative between the 20s but not so much when the opposing defense knew he was getting it in tight running situations. 3rd and short was another example of this and is also a situation where Tebow is unstoppable.

    The other thing to consider on his 5 yd per carry average is that as Qb he is vulnerable to losing rushing yds on sacks to hurt the per carry avg.

    It will be interesting to see what Michigan cooks up for the Heisman winner.

    IMHO, D-Mac and Tebow were both excellent candidates as were Daniel and Brennan. I diagree with the husker guy as I think Tebow was the most deserving finalist.

    Just an FYI, rushing stats against common opponents in 2007:

    Run
    TEam - Att Yds avg - TD
    D-Mac
    UT - 22 - 117 - 5.32 - 1
    Omiss - 22 - 110 - 5.00 - 0
    Uky - 29 - 173 - 5.97 - 1
    AUB - 37 - 43 - 1.16 - 0
    USCe - 34 - 321 - 9.44 - 1
    LSU - 32 - 206 - 6.44 - 3

    Total - 176 - 970 - 5.51 - 6

    Tebow
    UT - 8 - 61 - 7.63 - 2
    Omiss - 27 - 166 - 6.15 - 2
    Uky - 20 - 78 - 3.90 - 1
    AUB - 19 - 75 - 3.95 - 1
    USCe - 26 - 120 - 4.62 - 5
    LSU - 16 - 67 - 4.19 - 1

    Total - 116 - 567 - 4.89 - 12

    FWIW, I believe D-Mac should have won the Heisman in 2006.

    since Tebow already won

    <t>can we stop with the one-sided pro Tebow stats now?<br/>
    <br/>
    Without going too deep into it, the 'common opponents' represents a portion of the schedule in which McFadden was hurt.<br/>
    <br/>
    The guy won. We're now in a position in which the Heisman will be his to lose (because of the retarded position the media will put themselves in) for the next two years...almost regardless of what other people actually do on the field.<br/>
    <br/>
    Tebow won, do we really need to keep the comparisons running?<br/>
    <br/>
    Oh..... that's right.... someone had the audacity to mention someone else..</t>

    I think the real question is what is the Heisman supposed to be, if its supposed to go to the best college player then for the second year in a row McFadden got hosed! If its supposed to go to the best quarterback then it should have gone to Brennan, since a quarterbacks job is to win and Brennan goes Undeafeted thus far and is still breaking records; where Tebow led UF to 3-losses and didn't get his team into the SEC championship game. I dismiss Tebow's ability to run and throw because Dixon did those things better for Oregon (prior to his injury) and FYI...McFadden did the same thing for Arkansas.

    <t>I like this Airzona guy already!<br/>

    I'm warning you though man, although I agree with you. You are committing blasphemy here by suggesting that any mortal be mentioned in the same breath as Tebow.</t>

    For some people....real stats DO lie.

    Let's see...one of Tebow's losses and worst rushing game(Ga) came when he was injured and affected very negatively by the injury.

    And yet....on the season the stats were phenomenal....including the 51 TDs. DMac's team also had the losses and he underperformed in most of them.

    Nice to see you post AirZona.

    Fortunately the people who voted for the Heisman saw things differently that you did and did truly vote for Tebow who in my mind had a better season than McFadden, and that is not a knock at McFadden.

    Now if it were truly for the best player we would consider a lot of linemen who are not even in consideration.

    But welcome aboard.

    I'm with Arizona. Plus I watched Tebow against my Dawgs. I looked hard and long for the Heisman candidate, he was a Knowshow! "Knowshow Tebow", Hey that has a nice ring to it! LOL. Tebow wasn't the best player on the field, Knowshon was. If Herschel Walker didn't win it due to being a Freshman or Soph, how do you justify giving it to Tebow who lost 3 games? Losing 3 games as the "leader" of your team just doesn't seem worthy of such a prestigious award? Maybe the award has become watered down? I think so.

    As for Brennen, He may be pretty good, but man did he play some patsies. Let's see what he does to UGA?

    Speaking of "patsies", This season was really messed up. Ohio State goes to the dance after playing only 1 team in the Top 25 and losing that game? What a strange season.

    Next year is going to be very fun for UGA fans! They have the toughest schedule in College football, Maybe the toughest ever? If they go through the season undefeated... WOW!!!

    TB,

    Since the Dawgs so seldom beat the Gators anymore your unbridled enthusiasm is understandable after a rare win.

    Tebow doesn't play defense....said here several times.

    The rest doesn't need repeating either but you stay confident until next year's game.....no matter what happens. :wink: 8)
