Good grief! Read about this, but heard the audio today. Pretty shocking. This is a teacher?? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vjpWaESn_9g" frameborder="0"></iframe>
I've read two different version of the outcome. One says she was suspended with pay. The other says she was not suspended.
 This "teacher" doesn't understand her job. The whole idea of being a Social Studies teacher is to get the kids to ask questions. In fact, there's several things that every Social Studies/History teacher MUST do: 1. Tell the truth. - If it's not true, it's not history. 2. Separate facts from opinions. - The teacher must label every statement as being either "my opinion" or a "fact" which is supported by sources for the students to double-check. 3. Encourage disagreements of opinions. - The teacher's job is to throw roadblocks in front of student arguments that have no supporting facts, while pouring gasoline on the fire when students bring real research to the debate. It doesn't matter who "wins" these contests. The students who participate and do the research end up way ahead of the students who don't. It's also not unusual for a good debate to draw in other students as they begin to understand what's going on. 4. Admit your mistakes. - The greatest triumph that any student can have in the classroom is to catch a know-it-all like me in a mistake. Extra credit points must be awarded in such cases and the teacher must confess the error, and recognize the student, in front of the entire class. The screaming lady in this video needs to go back to beauty college or wherever she was trained. She's no history teacher...
She learned on the pavment of I-10E overlooking the flooded Louisiana Superdome from Leroy De Looter.
