Hey Dave since this will be happening in your backyard are you going to attend...? I live a couple hours away but since we don't rate any local TV stations in the "heartland" all I get on cable are Tampa news channels. I don't envy the local population while this is going on. I watched this morning where the bridges are now under control and will be managed by the secret service and authorities to maintain control of the RNC convention. This does not include school bus schedules that have been changed and all traffic in a 30 mile quadrant... Have fun and enjoy...Maybe its not so bad living without news channels in the "sticks"...
Ralph, I live in Pinellas County across the bay from downtown so I don't think a lot of my own routine will be affected although I do arrive back from Chicago next Friday during the day and I do have to cross a major bridge on the way back to work from the airport. One place on the beach where my son routinely has music gigs wants to borrow his amp equipment for a governor to address his state's delegation who is staying there at that same resort and I think my son may be playing there a couple of times and I'll probably go with him. So.....I might be partying it up with the GOP at the Tiki bar.....imagine that? My son says he will put stickers on the side of his gear that read "Yes we can...again" but I advised against that for tip purposes.....
Don't you have to do something once before you can do it again? WTF has Barry done? Besides golf, campaign and spend out his ass.
http://www2.tbo.com/news/republican-national-convention/2012/aug/18/2/tampa-police-arrest-16-in-prostitution-crackdown-b-ar-467988/ I had to laugh at this because I was wondering when it would happen. Raised in Miami the son of a policeman during the 60's and 70's every big event from the super bowl to a political convention has the local police rounding up drunks, prostitutes and the homeless. Of course this goes on in every city and has for years but the irony of Mayor "fill in the blank" telling his city's law enforcement to clean up the streets for the week has always been comical to me. My father would tell me they would do their best to tell the local prostitutes to lay low (yeah but not in that sense) until this blows (no pun intended) over and then go back to it when its over. He hated doing this because it was so hypocritical of what was important every other week of the year. So as we cue into the RNC next week we can breathe with relief that Tampa is a model of what an American city should be...At least for a week.
And a new development has a possible hurricane welcoming the conventioneers next Monday: http://www.ral.ucar.edu/hurricanes/realtime/plots/northatlantic/2012/al942012/track_early/aal94_2012082106_track_early.png
I also understand that Obama and the DNC is planning a whole week of activities during the RNC convention that goes against the tradition of the opposing party respecting the convention of the other. What else could we expect from that classless idiot?
Joe Biden To Crash Tampa During Republican National Convention… Biden isn’t smart enough to crash a car, let alone a convention. WASHINGTON — Vice President Joe Biden is planning to be in Tampa, Fla., next week as Republicans open their presidential nominating convention in the city. An Obama campaign announcement says Biden will be attending events in Florida on Monday and Tuesday, including a stop in Tampa on the convention’s opening day. President Barack Obama won Florida four years ago, but Republicans are hoping the week-long convention will help them recapture the key battleground.
