Need I say more? Whoever called that ******** excessive celebration penalty must regularly do ND at Mich. games. They just suck.
If you want to criticize Big 10 refs, look at the Tennessee-North Carolina game to see all the missed calls. The calls that I saw were the right ones, but they missed several, including one similar to the one you are complaining about. Like it or not, it's the rule. It's the responsibility of the coach to teach his players the rule and the responsibility of the player to know the rule. Isn't that what college is for?
To quote the old coach on ESPN when discussing the call against K State and the calls in the NC-Tenn. game (both games by Big Ten refs) "much more flagrant, not called." It's the responsibility of the refs to know the rules and call infractions when they occur. "Isn't that what college is for?"
The old coach was being his tactful TV self. He did not say the K-State call was wrong. He just said the TN act was more flagrant, which is correct. We'll have to agree to disagree.
What the old coach was saying in effect is that the refs suck. They're totally inconsistant. Coaches can't teach their players what is and isn't acceptable because the refs, even from the same conference have no consistancy. Although when it comes to calls against non conference opponents at the Big House, they are consistantly full of ********.
What's sad about the call is that it took all the attention away from what was an exciting game. Hats off the Syracuse. IMHO they Syracuse deserved to win despite that call. PJ in Jersey
