You have to admire the job Hoke did this year.

I did not realize the Hokies were down to their 3rd string kicker for field goals. That really hurt them last night. One kicker suspended for possible home invasion arrest and one for curfew violation.

Another exciting game, Va Tech dominated UM for a big stretch but couldn't put any points on the board. Then critical mistakes in Va.Tech special team, usually their strength, doomed them. Looked like they should have had about 4 picks of Robinson as well. I thought that catch by Cole was good for the TD, but then I may be biased.

I agree with Krebs, excellent first year by Hoke at UM. Looks like he's got them turned around and with recruiting going very well they'll be back at the top of the B1G very soon.

I went to bed happy but wondering how in the hell did we win that game? VT's defense totally shut down our offense and VT offense moved the ball pretty well all game outgaining M by a 2-1 margain. I think the key factors were the ability of our defense to keep them out of the end zone and a series of critical mistakes by VT-the failed QB sneak on 4th an 1; the VT DB going for an intercption rather than a tackle which allowed one of Denard's chuck and pray throws to Hemmingway to end up a TD; two dropped interception on two more Denard chuck and hope passes; the fumble of the kickoff return late in the second quarter; the punter's decision to run with the ball which led to our second TD on a short field; the missed FG in overtime.

As for the overruled pass, I thought the guy was out of bounds when I initially saw the reply but as more replays were shown I thought that it was a TD. It was a sensational catch.

It was an ugly but compelling game to watch. Both defenses really dished out some incredible hits and were flying over the field. Mattison, IMHO, deserves the largest amount of credit for turning the program around. Can't say enough about the effort and tenacity of both defenses. And kudos to Denard for his courage in throwing a block on a 300 lb. VT lineman and nearly losing his head in the process.

M was the beneficiary of a soft schedule loaded with home games this year. Next year we play Alabama in Dallas and visit our good friends in South Bend and Columbus and also make a trek to Lincoln. Hoke and his staff deserve to enjoy their day in the sun but have to navigate a tough road next year.

All I can say is that Beamer made Kelly look like a genius last night. He should fire his special teams coach. Oh yeah, he can't can he?

I wonder if Holly Rowe has any eligibility left. Has the potential to be good strong safety.

Interesting, I thought the overturned td was a catch also.

But Beamer was his own worst enemy last night. At 6 - 0 and 4th down how do you not take the field goal? Instead he goes for it and misses and that's when the game turned.

Also the fake put was pitiful.

Beamer making Hoke look like a genius is probably a good analysis.

A couple of great catches by the Michigan WR though is what won for Michigan other than Beamer.

I thought it was not a catch...I thought the nose of the football touched the ground before he had complete control...either way it was one hell of an effort.

I agree with Stu. He didn't catch it. You can't use the ground to help you...especially when the ground is out-of-bounds...
