ESPN Article on the subject was pretty interesting. If you remember Saban complained about Student's leaving early from Alabama games, even threatened to revoke tickets from groups who's sections emptied too early.

I haven't really paid attention to ND student section, it always looks full to me don't know if it's full at the start and at the end of games to tell you the truth and ND was not a school that was mentioned in the article.

This was discussed on Inside Texas and this one response from a student was telling to me, things that never occured to me as a student...but then that was a different era.
I noticed at a family wedding this past weekend that the friends of the bride and groom and my younger family members were on their phones all the time, texting, facebooking, etc . They can't stand not to be in constant contact.

    Student Attendance

I was more than a little surprised at the season ticket sales at OU being only 1/3 the student population. The Irish have about 10K in their student section and I'm pretty sure it's sold out, that is with 8500 undergraduates and about 3500 graduate students.

I think Texas actually limits it's student section to around 16K, maybe 18K I forget. But with 50K students on campus that should mean a student ticket is a prized possession. I think Texas A&M sells north of 30K student tickets. How many do the Gators and the Tide sell? You guys know?

The Aggie student section is being maintained right at 31K.

This one from that article is kinda sad:
It just tells me the kid doesn't enjoy the game for what it is...
I want to see my guys PLAY, and if it's a game we should win, I can watch them even closer to see if/how they are progressing, or not.

Good points..... and I did that when I was younger.

But now it's a daunting task to do the 5 hour roundtrip drive.... tailgate, party and go to the game especially if it's hot and we are playing a no brainer chump like Georgia Souther....no.....wait.....

I don't know how many tickets the Gators reserve for games, but our student body is 50k plus also.

Attendance seems to be a problem around the country. I have to admit that we have given up on attending noon games especially with the easy teams on the schedule.

The Gator sell out streak ended last year and the waiting list for season tickets has disappeared.

Price and the availability on HD tv has a lot to do with it I think.

Well, I guess you can throw me under that bus. I feel like I love football but if I have to love watching my team beat up East Southern Mountain College, then I'll probably have better things to do with my time.

    It gets old.

Same thing for exhibition NFL games. I watch them, but if I were a season ticket holder I would really resent the way they make all season ticket holders overpay for the exhibition games.
