What no commentary? I thought the President gave a good speech, no new ground was broken of course. I thought it interesting that Sen Fienstein gave him a B for his speech. I watched the Gov of Virgina give the rebuttal. That guys left eyebrow freaked me out. If he has presidental asperations he better get that fixed!! Of course the political cartoonists will have a ball with it. Did any of you watch the facial hysteronics of Sen Clinton? They were hilarious. I think I did catch Kerry nodding off at one point. What a surprise that Cindy Sheehan got arrested. What a loser, I can't wait till she runs for the Senate, I'm sending money! . Terry
I wasn't happy with the speech. Like a lot of other conservatives, I'm not a happy camper right now. I don't like all of this spending and new social programs that are coming from a Republican President and a Republican Congress. The only way they still have my support, is the utter incompetence of the Democrats who fail to offer any counter-proposals or alternative policies. If this situation keeps up with all of its bitterness and pettiness, a third or fourth party just might have a chance... ................JO'Co
Here is a picture of a potential presidential candidate that might cause you not to be tempted to join a third party, Jo Co:
My Eyes, My Eyes!!!!!!!!!! BTW: I thought it funny that Shelia Jackson Lee a Houston Democrat who hates George Bush and everything about him...or at least thats the way she comes across, lept over people to get to him as he walked out. I thought she was maybe going to take a swing at him. Instead she gave him what seemed like 50 programs to autograph and was all smiley and stuff. What's up with that? Wonder if they are all up on eBay now? Terry
Aunt Hillary is exhibit 'A' of what's wrong with the Democrats. She seems to be cake-walking to the 2008 Democratic Party nomination, yet polls consistently show her negative ratings over 50%. This means that a majority of Americans simply won't vote for her under any circumstances. The Demos only hope for her is if the GOP splits its vote between moderates and conservatives; which has happened before and its how her husband got elected. Look for the Republicans to run a balanced ticket with Rudy or someone like him in the VP slot to keep the party together. Fear of Hillary may be the glue which prevents the split... ..................JO'Co
Terry, I was also pretty happy with the speech. JO'Co, I don't really see a 3rd or 4th party having much of a chance in this country. What it would do is split votes from one party or the other like the year Clinton got elected. If a 3rd party does come I hope it comes from the left. Gator Bill
Bill, That was my point. I see no possibility of a third party overtaking one of the two majors. What I do see is a real possibility for a minor party to disrupt the process and split one of the two major parties. This usually happens to the Republicans. It cost them Bush Sr. and Taft and gave us circus clowns like Grover Cleveland and Woodrow Wilson. This time around, however, the Left could cause a break too. This is what Cindy Sheehan represents. She's talking about challenging Diane Foolstein here in CA and maybe going the independent route instead of the primaries. Both Left and Right are very unhappy with the moderates right now and one of them just might break away and do something crazy... ................IMHO..........JO'Co
