Give the man a microphone and he'll get your atttention! Today he went off on Notre Dame, the SEC schedule and paying for parents of players to go on road games to see their kids play.

It's always interesting...for the record he made no comments about the Vols! :)

The coaches do get down and dirty on SEC media day. Here is a quote from Muschamp discussing Urban's new school:

He is one of a kind and still loved by most of the Gator Nation. Some narrow minded fans don't like it that he went to an Eastern Division rival.

However he would have come back to Florida but didn't feel like he should be one of a number of interviews and in hindsight it was obvious that our President had Urban Meyer on his mind and that is the way it was going to be.

Spurrier has done a magnificent job at S. Carolina and he may end up being there longer than he was at Florida. He was Head Gator for 12 years. I believe he is in his 9th year as a Gamecock.

Turnabout is fair play. But the guy who made smarmy comments about the SEC is gone. "Resigned".

Stu, I don't believe the comments in this topic have anything to do with the guy who made the comments about the SEC but about Ohio State turning in a supposed rule violation, which was not a violation. And if it had been it was minor.

Muschamp simply answered a question that was asked him by a member of the press.

I guess the Alabama record last year was really 12-1-0-2. The 2 is almost losses. I would analyze South Carolina's record but I really don't give a ****. :D

Bill, I know all that...I have also read that it is very common for schools compliance departments to call these things to the attention of the NCAA when they hear about "potential" recruiting violations. I imagine Florida does it as well. If we did something nasty, unusual, or unethical, fine...I'll take the heat.

This only came about because of the bad feelings Fla has about U.M. and OSU and accusations (denied) that U.M. was the one who turned them in. (It apparently is NOT considered good manners for coaches to report potential violations by their former schools.)

Tempest in a teapot. I'm not offended by Muschamp's comments...we earned them, but I hope that when inevitably goaded by reporters at the B10 Media day to give them a sound bite U.M. shows class...but I have no control over that.

I think you've hit on something, kp. With the 4-team playoffs approaching, it might be advisable to show a team's "complete" record, including near losses AND near wins. An example might be 9 (2)-3(2)-0. The first number in parens following the wins would be the near wins and the second number following the losses would be the near losses. Pretty simple and not at all confusing, right?

Which makes their destruction of the Irish even more hard to swallow....

It is interesting that Bama did struggle a bit in it's toughest SEC games but dominated the Irish.

I think that says a lot about giving Saban weeks to prepare for a big game..... sorta like their destruction of Michigan in Dallas last year.

OH... and count me as one who will always love Spurrier.... and Urban.

Once a Gator always a Gator...... except for AH of course....
