After reading some comments about this on a UF message board I am of the opinion that no game is more important for Urban Meyer than a rematch with Spurrier.

I'll wager that Spurrier knows this also and he also is aware of the huge recruiting gains he can make in Florida by beating Meyer and UF two years in a row. (Same goes for SC home games in Columbia vs. Ga and Tenn).

In any event Spurrier will be very hard to beat in these kinds of games in which so much is at stake for his success at SouCar.

I hope Meyer is up to the challenge.

I'll take SC and the points vs. UF, Tenn and Ga this year.

Well they are all important of course, but I'd think that since it's unlikely that even SOS can get So.Car ahead of Tenn,UGA and UF in the SEC East, it's more important to beat Tenn and UGA inorder to get to the SECCG.

But I can see that there is an emotional issue with Spurrier and the Gamecocks that will be tough unless Meyer beats him.

UF is in the East also. Got to get lucky and/or beat all three to get to the SECCG.

While being unbeaten is the surest way to the SECCG, it's more likely that everybody will lose at least 1 game. So not losing to Tenn and UGA would seem more important than a loss to So.Car, as So. Car will likely have at least 2 losses or more. I guess I'm saying that in a 3 way tie where Tenn, UGA and UF all have 1 loss if UF has wins over UGA and Tenn they would go to the SECCG, right? If so they could lose to So.Car. and still go to the SECCG.

I'll predict that Florida handles South Carolina this year.

At home, late in the season, between the Vandy and Western Carolina games. Looks favorable for the Gators, alright. What would be interesting, though probably unlikely, would be if the East came down to that game.

The East very well could come down to that game.

Tenn and Ga are at SC and there is no telling how a new Ga Qb and a revamped Tenn will handle the Cocks in Columbia.

Heck SC won at Tenn and came within a whisker of winning at Ga last season.

SC cost Florida the SECCG last year so at the very least if UF has a decent year I think the Gators must win over SC to claim the SEC East even if SC is not in it at that point.

I don't think that S. Carolina has the depth to win the East. They might upset one of the big three like they did two times last year. However if you look at the way they finished the season with losses to Clemson and Missouri they sure didn't look like a powerhouse.

I'm as big a Spurrier fan as anyone, but I don't look for the Gamecocks to do what Florida did in the 90's under Spurrier.

But on any given Sat they can beat anyone.

If it does, then I like Spurrier's chances. They might want to increase security at the Seagle Building on gameday as a precaution.
