Ok, for starters a list like this is very subjective but like you say might start some conversation.

No problem with number 1, until knocked off his perch Saban has to be considered number 1. The top 10 are there for a reason, being successful and who's number 1 and who's number 10 doesn't have a lot of meaning, they are all good.

The comment about Spurrier not working 20 hours a day, that is one thing I always admired about Steve, he had a life other than football and expected his coaches to do the same. I miss him.

Some negative observations, Lane Kiffin, I can't stand him but I would say he sure belongs higher than number 20 based on last year alone.

Will Muschamp at 59, while Charlie Weiss is higher at 40 something? Charlie's offense last year sucked and he got a head coaching job and is higher ranked that his most recent boss?

Let me ask you this about Muschamp, how many coaches ranked above him could the Gators have hired to come to Gainesville if we had wanted them? A bunch, but we wanted Muschamp, that should say something.

Urban Meyer, I loved him, however read the writeup about Muschamp and the writer, not me but the writer, blames Meyer for leaving a mess. Let me see if I understand, Meyer left a mess but he is number 3?? Ok got that. Seems a bit inconsistent to me.

Let me just say that I am happy with our new coach and expect the Gators to be back in the hunt in very short order and watch how much more brilliant our coach is then.

Well enough, it was interesting reading.

Yeah these lists are highly subjective....Mack Brown way down the list...look at his overall record...he's a HOF coach.

Always interesting to read this time of year. As I said in another topic we'll be seeing list's of who has the best uniforms, who has the best fight song, who has the best gameday atmosphere, and on and on and on.

Yeah Terry Mack Brown is another one that caught my eye, the author did have a reason for that, but it still seems pretty low to me.

I'm with Bill on the Muschamp ranking and Bill's comments. I think this year will prove that WM is much better than 59 on this list.

Agree with the Top 10 and I disagree with Bill because I think that Miles at #4 and Kiffin at #20 makes more sense than the other list we saw earlier.

Bill I think Mack over the years has always been a guy people didn't respect as a coach, just a recruiter. But if you look at his record it's outstanding.

He is 227-113-1. His last 2 years aren't fair way to judge the overall body of work. I'm not saying Mack is a X and O guy like Spurrier, Mack is the quintessential CEO Coach. He's a program builder and a winner.

When the "coach in waiting" pressure was lifted Mack decided to just mail it in......take life easy.

I think the last 2 years are the function of the failure of Garrett Gilbert, he was just horrible and we had no other option, the rest of the pieces were just fine and most Longhorns felt like we had the talent and leadership to make a NC run in 2010 with a lot of players back from the 2009 team...but instead of an outstanding QB and leader in Colt McCoy we had a kid in way over his head. That is on the coaches, they have to be good at evaluating and they also have to do better in stocking the QB positon it's the most important positon on most college teams.
