MIAMI - The city of Miami made an announcement on Thursday concerning the fate of the Orange Bowl. The stadium will be demolished in early January, after its last scheduled event.

The public will get a chance to buy pieces of the stadium as souvenirs.

The University of Miami Hurricanes play their final game at the Orange Bowl on Saturday night (7:15) versus the University of Virginia.

There are some rumors that a new stadium for the Florida Marlins will be built on the Orange Bowl property. Only problem with that is access in and out and parking.

As I said earlier I have fond memories of the Orange Bowl but it is time for it to be torn down.

It'll be interesting how moving to the Dolphins Stadium affects the attendance at Miami games. I won't miss the Orange Bowl, it had become a old and poorly maintained stadium that either needed a complete refurbishing or to be torn down.

Dallas has the same problem with the Cotton Bowl. I haven't been there since the '87 ND/A&M game, but it was depressing back then I can't imagine that it's any better.

I hope the move the Cotton Bowl to Jerry Jones new facility.

Gator Bowl survived because Jacksonville spent the money for a complete refurbishing of the faciltiy. The Sugar Bowl was torn down, the Fiesta Bowl is in the new Cardinals facility and the Rose Bowl is the only original venue still in use.

Terry, actually the Gator Bowl was torn down and completely rebuilt. The Florida Georgia game was a home and home while that was going on.

    Yes it is Terry.

But it's basically a new stadium. Nice place.
